Hi This evening I'll be reading from a book[00:00:54]

I just finished and since a lot of it is about the future[00:01:01]

I'm going to start more or less on the last page[00:01:07]

And tell you about my grandmother[00:01:13]

Now she was a Southern Baptist Holy Ruler[00:01:19]

And she had a very clear idea about the future[00:01:22]

And of how the world would end[00:01:28]

In fire[00:01:32]

In fire[00:01:33]

Like in Revelations[00:01:36]

Like in Revelations[00:01:38]

And when I was ten my grandmother told me[00:01:42]

The world would end in a year[00:01:46]

So I spent the whole year praying and reading the Bible[00:01:49]

And alienating all my friends and relatives[00:01:54]

And finally the big day came[00:01:59]

And absolutely nothing happened Just another day[00:02:04]

Ooooaaaah[00:02:16]

Now my grandmother was a missionary[00:02:21]

And she had heard that the largest religion in the world was Buddhism[00:02:24]

So she decided to go to Japan to convert Buddhists[00:02:30]

And to inform them about the end of the world[00:02:35]

And she didn't speak Japanese[00:02:44]

So she tried to convert them with a combination of[00:02:47]

Hand gestures sign language and hymns in English[00:02:49]

The Japanese had absolutely no idea what she was trying to get at[00:03:06]

And when she got back to the United States[00:03:14]

She was still talking about the end of the world[00:03:17]

And I remember the day she died[00:03:21]

She was very excited [00:03:24]

She was like a small bird perched on the edge of her bed[00:03:27]

Near the window in the hospital[00:03:31]

Waiting to die[00:03:33]

And she was wearing these pink nightgowns[00:03:36]

And combing her hair so she'd look pretty for the big moment[00:03:40]

When Christ came to get her[00:03:45]

Ooooaaaah[00:03:50]

And she wasn't afraid but then[00:03:53]

Just at the very last minute something happened that changed everything[00:03:57]

Because suddenly at the very last minute she panicked [00:04:05]

After a whole life of praying and predicting the end of the world she panicked[00:04:13]

And she panicked because she couldn't decide whether or not to wear a hat[00:04:22]

And so when she died she went into the future in a panic[00:04:42]

With absolutely no idea of what would be next[00:04:52]
