Bringing Mary Home - Vernon Oxford[00:00:00]
Written by:John Duffy/Chaw Mank/Joe Kingston[00:00:01]
I was driving down a lonely road on a dark and stormy night[00:00:09]
When a little girl by the road side showed up in my head lights[00:00:17]
I stopped and she got in the back and in a shaky tone[00:00:25]
She said my name is Mary please won't you take me home[00:00:33]
She must have been so frightened all alone there in the night[00:00:41]
There was something strange about her cause her face was deathly white[00:00:49]
She sat so pale and quiet there in the back seat all alone[00:00:57]
I never will forget that night I took Mary home[00:01:04]
I pulled into the driveway where she told me to go[00:01:21]
Got out to help her from the car and opened up the door[00:01:29]
But I could not believe my eyes the back seat was bare[00:01:37]
I looked all around the car but Mary wasn't there[00:01:44]
A light shown from the porch someone opened up the door[00:01:52]
I asked about the little girl that I was searching for[00:02:00]
Then the lady gently smiled and brushed a tear away[00:02:08]
She said it sure was nice of you to go out of your way[00:02:16]
But thirteen years ago today in a wreck just down the road[00:02:24]
Our darling Mary lost her life and we miss her so[00:02:32]
So thank you can Mr for the kindness you have shown[00:02:40]
You're the thirteenth one who's been here bringing Mary home[00:02:47]
You're the thirteenth one who's been here bringing Mary home[00:02:55]
