Crowd Around the Corner - Earl Thomas Conley[00:00:00]
Written by:Earl Thomas Conley[00:00:02]
Those stormy years leave deep and endless trails across his face[00:00:14]
He'll wander back when morning rolls around[00:00:22]
For it's an old man's right to spend his life just searching for a place[00:00:29]
Where he can sit and watch the sun go down[00:00:37]
Time's run it's course and freed the horse that pulled him through his prime[00:00:44]
And placed a different light above his brow[00:00:51]
Now towering rows of buildings grow in fields he left behind[00:00:58]
And life seems twice as heavy as a plow[00:01:06]
So crowd around the corner boys and take your good old time[00:01:13]
And pass along a piece of yesterday[00:01:20]
A tender breeze of memories is blowing through your mind[00:01:28]
Softer than those stands of silver gray[00:01:35]
With his golden chain the old man clings to the watch inside his vest[00:01:57]
That tells him when it's time to move along[00:02:04]
Just rambling through the avenues he'll sometimes stop to rest[00:02:11]
But it's hard to find a place where he belongs[00:02:18]
So crowd around the corner boys and take your good old time[00:02:26]
And pass along a piece of yesterday[00:02:33]
A tender breeze of memories is blowing through your mind[00:02:40]
Softer than those stands of silver gray[00:02:48]
And sweeter than the things we've seen today[00:02:54]
