Death of Emmett Till (Live) - Bob Dylan (鲍勃·迪伦)[00:00:00]
'Twas down in Mississippi not so long ago [00:00:02]
When a young boy from Chicago town[00:01:01]
Stepped through a Southern door [00:01:07]
This boy's dreadful tragedy[00:01:10]
I can still remember well [00:01:15]
The color of his skin was black[00:01:19]
And his name was Emmett Till [00:01:24]
Some men they dragged him to a barn[00:01:28]
And there they beat him up [00:01:35]
They said they had a reason [00:01:38]
But I disremember what [00:01:42]
They tortured him and[00:01:47]
Did some evil things too evil to[00:01:50]
Repeat [00:01:54]
There was screaming sounds inside the barn [00:01:55]
There was laughing sounds out on the street [00:02:00]
Then they rolled his body[00:02:04]
Down a gulf amidst a blood-red rain[00:02:10]
And they threw him in the waters wide to cease his[00:02:15]
Screaming pain [00:02:22]
The reason that they killed him there [00:02:22]
And I'm sure it ain't no lie [00:02:28]
He was a black-skinned boy so[00:02:32]
He was born to die [00:02:38]
And then to stop the United States[00:02:40]
Of yelling for a trial [00:02:47]
Two brothers they confessed[00:02:51]
That they had killed poor[00:02:54]
Emmett Till [00:02:58]
But on the jury there were men[00:02:59]
Who helped the brothers[00:03:04]
Commit this awful crime [00:03:06]
And so this trial was a mockery [00:03:07]
But nobody seemed to mind [00:03:12]
I saw the morning papers[00:03:16]
But I could not bear to see[00:03:23]
The smiling brothers walkin' down[00:03:28]
The courthouse stairs [00:03:33]
For the jury found them innocent[00:03:35]
And the brothers they went free [00:03:39]
While Emmett's body floats the foam[00:03:43]
Of a Jim Crow southern sea [00:03:48]
If you can't speak out against this kind of thing [00:03:52]
A crime that's so unjust [00:03:58]
Your eyes are filled with dead men's dirt [00:04:02]
Your mind is filled with dust [00:04:06]
Your arms and legs they[00:04:10]
Must be in shackles and chains [00:04:14]
And your blood it must refuse to flow [00:04:15]
For you let this human race fall[00:04:18]
Down so God-awful low [00:04:24]
This song is just a reminder[00:04:27]
To remind your fellow man[00:04:33]
That this kind of thing still lives today in that[00:04:37]
Ghost-robed Ku Klux Klan [00:04:44]
But if all us folks that thinks alike [00:04:46]
If we gave all we could give [00:04:50]
We could make this great land of ours[00:04:54]
A greater place to live[00:04:59]
