And when she ironed them down you couldn't tell that they hadn't come from town[00:01:49]

A sharecropped family across the road didn't have it as good as us[00:01:56]

And mama said well I bet they don't even have coal oil or beans to boil[00:02:08]

We started back home me and jack and about halfway we back[00:02:44]

We looked and in the sharecropper's window at last was a light[00:02:53]

So for one of the neighbors and for us it was a good Christmas night[00:02:58]

Christmas came and Christmas went Christmas that year was heaven sent[00:03:06]

Then daddy put on his gumboots[00:03:11]
