49 - David And The High Spirit[00:00:00]

Chapter 49[00:00:00]

Hear this all peoples[00:00:31]

Give ear all inhabitants of the world[00:00:33]

Both low and high[00:00:37]

Rich and poor together[00:00:38]

My mouth shall speak wisdom[00:00:40]

The meditation of my heart shall be understanding[00:00:43]

I will incline my ear to a proverb[00:00:46]

I will solve my riddle to the music of the lyre[00:00:49]

Why should I fear in times of trouble[00:00:53]

When the iniquity of my persecutors surrounds me[00:00:57]

Men who boast of the wealth[00:01:02]

And boast of the abundance of their riches[00:01:04]

Truly no man can ransom himself[00:01:06]

Or give to God the price of his life[00:01:10]

For the ransom of his life is costly[00:01:13]

And can never suffice[00:01:17]

That he should continue to live on for ever[00:01:18]

And never see the pit[00:01:21]

Yea he shall see that even the wise die[00:01:24]

The fool and the stupid alike must perish[00:01:29]

And leave their wealth to others[00:01:33]

Their graves are their homes for ever[00:01:35]

Their dwelling places to all generations[00:01:38]

Though they named lands their own[00:01:41]

Man cannot abide in his pomp[00:01:43]

He is like the beasts that perish[00:01:46]

This is the fate of those who have foolish confidence[00:01:49]

The end of those who are pleased with their portion[00:01:55]

Like sheep they are appointed for Sheol[00:01:58]

Death shall be their shepherd[00:02:02]

Straight to the grave they descend[00:02:04]

And their form shall waste away[00:02:06]

Sheol be their home[00:02:08]

But God will ransom my soul from the power of Sheol[00:02:11]

For he will receive me[00:02:15]

Be not afraid when one becomes rich[00:02:19]

When the glory of his house increases[00:02:22]

For when he dies he will carry nothing away[00:02:25]

His glory will not go down after him[00:02:28]

Though while he lives he counts himself happy[00:02:32]

And though a man gets praise when he does well for himself[00:02:35]

He will go to the generation of his fathers[00:02:40]

Who will never more see the light[00:02:43]

Man cannot abide in his pomp[00:02:46]

He is like the beasts that perish[00:02:50]
