My Cavan Girl - Celtic Thunder[00:00:00]
Written by:Traditiona/Séamus Brett/David Munro[00:00:01]
As I walk the road from killashandra[00:00:11]
Weary I'm sat down[00:00:17]
For it's twelve long miles around the lake[00:00:21]
To get to cavan town[00:00:27]
Though ougher and the road I go[00:00:31]
Once seemed beyond compare[00:00:37]
Now I curse the time it takes to reach[00:00:41]
My cavan girl so fair[00:00:47]
The autumn shades are on the leaves[00:00:51]
The trees will soon be bare[00:00:56]
Each red gold leaf around me seems the colours of her hair[00:01:00]
My gaze retreats to find my feet[00:01:10]
And once again I sigh[00:01:16]
For the broken pool of sky reminds me[00:01:20]
The colours of her eye[00:01:26]
At the cavan cross each Sunday morning[00:01:37]
Where she can be found[00:01:43]
And she seems to have the eye of every boy in cavan town[00:01:47]
If my luck will hold I'll have the golden summer of her smile[00:01:57]
And to break the hearts of cavan men[00:02:06]
She'll talk to me a while[00:02:12]
So next Sunday evening finds me homeward killashandra bound[00:02:26]
To work the week till I return and court in cavan town[00:02:36]
When asked if she would be my bride at least she'd not said no[00:02:46]
So next Sunday morning rouses myself and back to her I'll go[00:02:56]
As I walk the road from killashandra[00:03:06]
Weary I'm sat down[00:03:11]
For it's twelve long miles around the lake[00:03:15]
To get to cavan town[00:03:21]
Though ougher and the road I go[00:03:25]
Once seemed beyond compare[00:03:31]
Now I curse the time it takes to reach[00:03:35]
My cavan girl so fair[00:03:41]
Now I curse the time it takes to reach[00:03:45]
My cavan girl so fair[00:03:52]
