Me And My Uncle - Judy Collins[00:00:02]
Me and my uncle went riding down[00:00:08]
From Colorado west Texas bound[00:00:13]
And we stopped off in Santa Fe[00:00:18]
It being the point about half way[00:00:23]
And besides it was the hottest part of the day[00:00:28]
We led our ponies into a stall[00:00:36]
Went to the bar boys got drinks for all[00:00:41]
Two days in the saddle my body hurt[00:00:46]
It being summer took off my shirt[00:00:51]
And tried to wash off some of that dusty dirt[00:00:56]
West Texas cowboys all over town[00:01:03]
With gold and silver they're loaded down[00:01:08]
Just in from round up it seemed a shame[00:01:13]
So my uncle starts a friendly game[00:01:18]
High low Jacks and the winner takes the gains[00:01:24]
From the beginning uncle starts to win[00:01:30]
Them Texas cowboys they was mad as saying[00:01:35]
Some say he's cheating but that can't be[00:01:40]
Cos my uncle he's honest as me[00:01:45]
And I'm as honest as a Denver man can be[00:01:50]
One of them cowboys he starts to draw[00:01:58]
I grabbed a bottle slapped him on the jaw[00:02:02]
I shot me another he won't grow old[00:02:07]
In the confusion uncle grabbed the gold[00:02:12]
And we high tailed it down to Mexico[00:02:17]
Now God bless cowboys and God bless gold[00:02:23]
God bless my uncle and rest his soul[00:02:28]
He taught me well boys taught me all I know[00:02:33]
Taught me so well that I grabbed that gold[00:02:37]
And I left him lying there by the side of the road[00:02:42]
