The Passenger - Chris Ledoux[00:00:00]
It was dark and I was drivin' down[00:00:04]
A loney Texas road[00:00:07]
The night was hot and sleep[00:00:09]
Pulled at my eyes[00:00:11]
I was thinkin' of the wild times and[00:00:14]
The women that[00:00:17]
I'd had[00:00:17]
The deceitful things I'd done[00:00:19]
And those lies[00:00:21]
Standin' in the shadows by the side[00:00:24]
Of the road[00:00:27]
Was the figure of a withered old man[00:00:28]
He wore a black bandanna[00:00:33]
A ropin' stetson hat[00:00:36]
With a two inch[00:00:38]
Scarlet[00:00:40]
Hat band[00:00:41]
He held his wrinkled hand up[00:00:43]
As a sign to shut her down[00:00:45]
So I pulled over and stopped[00:00:48]
By his side[00:00:50]
He opened up the door[00:00:53]
Slid in and sat down[00:00:55]
He said my[00:00:57]
Ain't it hot tonight[00:00:59]
I studied this old man and it seemed[00:01:02]
Mighty strange[00:01:06]
For him to be out here all alone[00:01:07]
Then he started talkin'[00:01:12]
And he told me[00:01:14]
Many things[00:01:15]
Of times that both of us had known[00:01:17]
He told me of the wild life and[00:01:26]
The women that he'd had[00:01:29]
How none of them had ever meant a thing[00:01:31]
He told me of a black night[00:01:36]
Much the same as this[00:01:38]
Of the strange and awesome[00:01:40]
Things he'd seen[00:01:43]
A man beside the road had raised[00:01:45]
His hand and flagged him down[00:01:48]
So he stopped[00:01:50]
And let him in[00:01:52]
That stranger told him stories that[00:01:55]
I am hearing now[00:01:57]
'Bout the wild times and all the sin[00:01:59]
Then the car got cold and clammy[00:02:04]
And this old man looked at me[00:02:07]
He said boy[00:02:09]
I've come here for you[00:02:10]
Your days of wicked sinnin'[00:02:14]
Have come to an end[00:02:16]
As a mortal on this earth[00:02:18]
Boy you are through[00:02:20]
Then his eyes got red and fiery[00:02:23]
As he took his stetson off[00:02:25]
To reveal his evil horns shiny and black[00:02:28]
My god the fear came over me and[00:02:33]
My senses were all lost[00:02:35]
I fought with him until we finally erashed[00:02:37]
Next day they found the car at[00:02:47]
The bottom of a draw[00:02:49]
The young cowboy was found beside the wreck[00:02:51]
His ear had been consumed by fire[00:02:56]
The cowboy had no marks[00:02:59]
Except the smoke and pitch fork brand[00:03:01]
Upon his neck[00:03:04]
