Will he take the soul of a convict[00:00:00]
Could I be one of those he choosed[00:00:08]
I was taught the Bible from childhood[00:00:18]
At my mother's knee I learned to pray[00:00:21]
I was taught of God and all his goodness[00:00:23]
And the devil and his evil ways[00:00:27]
There's good in the bad and bad in the good[00:00:30]
And there's none that's free from sin[00:00:33]
But there's some questions I've wondered about[00:00:36]
What happens to the men who die in the pen[00:00:40]
Just imagine yourself the judge God Almighty[00:00:45]
As you gaze over all these men[00:00:50]
When death takes IT'S toll[00:00:53]
What becomes of the soul of the men[00:00:55]
Who die in the pen[00:00:59]
Do you think of God that's true[00:01:02]
And just could look from his heavenly throne[00:01:04]
And be pleased to see men placed in chains and stripes[00:01:07]
And tucked from their loved ones at home[00:01:11]
Worked until they're completely axhuasted[00:01:14]
And your soul cries out in vain[00:01:17]
Fed like a hog and treated like a dog[00:01:20]
And at night to the bed you're chained[00:01:24]
Worked from sunup to sundown[00:01:29]
Through all kinds of weather[00:01:31]
And if you don't do the things just right[00:01:35]
You get introduced to the leather[00:01:38]
You see it's not the pain I mind so much[00:01:42]
As I'm stretched out on the floor[00:01:45]
It's just the thought that I can't do my part[00:01:47]
That's what breaks my heart[00:01:50]
You see I'm just not man enough anymore[00:01:52]
Oh there are a lotta other things[00:01:57]
I could tell you[00:01:59]
That you'd marvel at and say[00:02:00]
Why I didn't know in those modern times[00:02:03]
They treated men that way but they do[00:02:06]
That's why I ask you do you think[00:02:11]
That God could turn with a sneer and frown[00:02:12]
At the men who die in the pen[00:02:15]
Do you think he'll turn us down[00:02:18]
I believe there's a heaven and a hell[00:02:22]
And in God I put my trust[00:02:25]
That's why I'm asking these questions[00:02:28]
I believe he's true and just[00:02:30]
And I just imagine he'll tell me[00:02:34]
As we meet at the golden stairs[00:02:35]
Hell's not just meant for some of the men[00:02:39]
Who die in the pen[00:02:42]
But for some who have mistreated them there[00:02:44]
You see we're paying for the mistakes[00:02:50]
We made in our sins[00:02:52]
As we've had our troubles in life[00:02:54]
Because we're the underdogs of humanity[00:02:56]
And surely God won't make us pay twice[00:03:00]
I believe on that Day of Judgement[00:03:05]
He'll have this convict called in[00:03:08]
And he'll say it's true hell's not for you[00:03:11]
You had your hell in the pen[00:03:16]
