Darcy The Dragon - Roger Whittaker[00:00:00]
Christmas was coming and Darcy the dragon[00:00:09]
Was thinking what he should do[00:00:11]
Go through the forest and into the village[00:00:14]
To pick up a gift or two[00:00:16]
For through the forest[00:00:18]
Dear Darcy had friends[00:00:20]
That he loved very much[00:00:21]
He thought it'd be fine[00:00:23]
At Christmas time[00:00:25]
To give each a present or such[00:00:26]
But Darcy'd forgotten the very thing[00:00:28]
That makes a dragon unique[00:00:31]
Unlike a horse[00:00:33]
A dragon[00:00:34]
Of course[00:00:35]
Breathes fire whenever he speaks[00:00:36]
Off to town[00:00:38]
Dear Darcy went[00:00:39]
But woe is me[00:00:41]
Oh lament[00:00:42]
Before a dragon penny was spent[00:00:43]
He'd started a tiny fire[00:00:46]
He said he was sorry[00:00:52]
Our Darcy did[00:00:53]
He helped put the fire out[00:00:54]
The folks forgave him for he'd been kind[00:00:57]
And off he went looking about[00:00:59]
Into the toyshop did Darcy go[00:01:02]
With thoughts of his forest friends[00:01:04]
I'll buy each a game[00:01:06]
He said with a flame[00:01:07]
And the second fire it was then[00:01:09]
And this time[00:01:11]
When the fire was out[00:01:12]
The villagers charged along[00:01:13]
Pursuing Darcy with angry shouts[00:01:16]
Be off away be gone[00:01:18]
Poor Darcy sparked[00:01:20]
No harm I meant[00:01:22]
But from the village[00:01:23]
He was sent[00:01:24]
And woe is me and oh lament[00:01:26]
No presents for his friends[00:01:28]
Darcy was sad[00:01:35]
As he sat at the edge of the forest[00:01:36]
By and by[00:01:38]
No gifts would he have to offer his friends[00:01:39]
A tear rolled from his eye[00:01:42]
A storm did gather and soon did hit[00:01:44]
Twas a mighty wind that blew[00:01:47]
And Christmas snow did whirl and blow[00:01:49]
And he wondered what to do[00:01:52]
As Darcy let out with a dragon's cry[00:01:54]
He opened his mouth so wide[00:01:56]
That the wind[00:01:59]
And snow went right down his throat[00:02:00]
And put out the fire inside[00:02:01]
When Darcy realized the fire was out[00:02:04]
First a whisper[00:02:06]
Then a shout[00:02:07]
And a laugh[00:02:09]
To know[00:02:10]
That he could speak without starting another fire[00:02:10]
But now it was late[00:02:18]
On a Christmas Eve[00:02:19]
He was up and off with a roar[00:02:20]
He raced to the village and he cried out[00:02:22]
My fire 'e un no more[00:02:24]
From shop to shop[00:02:27]
He then did go[00:02:28]
In each[00:02:29]
He made his choice[00:02:30]
Darcy was treated so kindly now[00:02:32]
No need to fear his voice[00:02:34]
The villagers came to the edge of town[00:02:37]
And Darcy waved goodbye[00:02:39]
Come back again[00:02:41]
If ever you can[00:02:43]
They said[00:02:44]
And he said that he'd try[00:02:44]
Merry Christmas[00:02:46]
All did say[00:02:47]
As to the woods[00:02:49]
He made his way[00:02:50]
Tomorrow will be Christmas day[00:02:51]
And a merry Christmas to thee[00:02:53]
