The Strawberry Roan - Sons of The Pioneers[00:00:00]
Written by:Fred Howard/Nathaniel H. Vincent/Curly Fletcher[00:00:00]
Let me tell you a tale a good one I own[00:00:04]
Of a bucking old bronc a strawberry roan[00:00:08]
I was hanging round town not earning a dime[00:00:12]
Out of a job just spending my time[00:00:16]
When a stranger steps up and he says I suppose[00:00:19]
You're a bronc busting man[00:00:23]
From the looks of your clothes[00:00:25]
So I says guess your right[00:00:27]
There's none I can't tame[00:00:29]
If it's riding wild ponies that my middle name[00:00:31]
Oh that strawberry roan[00:00:35]
Oh that strawberry roan[00:00:38]
They say he's a cayuse that's never been rode[00:00:42]
And the guy that gets on him[00:00:46]
Is bound to be throwed[00:00:48]
Throwed off that strawberry roan[00:00:50]
So I puts on the blinds it sure was a fight[00:00:54]
Then my saddle comes next[00:00:57]
And I screws it down tight[00:00:59]
The I piles on his back[00:01:01]
And well I knew then[00:01:03]
If I ride this old pony[00:01:05]
I'll sure earn my ten[00:01:07]
For he bowed own kneck[00:01:09]
And he leaped from the ground[00:01:11]
Twenty circles he made before he came down[00:01:12]
He's the worst bucking bronc I've seen on the range[00:01:16]
He can turn on a nickle[00:01:20]
And give you some change[00:01:22]
Oh that strawberry roan[00:01:24]
Oh that strawberry roan[00:01:28]
He went up toward the east[00:01:31]
And came down toward the west[00:01:33]
To stay in his middle I'm doing my best[00:01:35]
On that old strawberry roan[00:01:39]
There's no fooling now say[00:01:45]
This pony can step[00:01:47]
But I'm still sitting tight and earning a rep[00:01:49]
When my stirrup I lose and also my hat[00:01:52]
And I starts pulling leather as blind as a bat[00:01:56]
And he makes one more jump[00:02:00]
He's headed up high[00:02:02]
Leave me sitting on air way up in the sky[00:02:04]
Guess I turned over twice[00:02:08]
And comes back to earth[00:02:09]
And I starts into cussing the day of his birth[00:02:11]
Oh that strawberry roan[00:02:15]
Oh that strawberry roan[00:02:19]
That sun fishing critter's worth leaving alone[00:02:23]
There's narry a buster from Texas to Nome[00:02:27]
Could ride that strawberry roan[00:02:30]
