Take an Old Cold 'Tater(And Wait) - Little Jimmy Dickens[00:00:00]
Written by:Eugene Bartlett[00:00:03]
When I was a little boy around the table at home[00:00:06]
I remember fairly well when a company would come[00:00:10]
I would have to be right still untill the whole crowd ate[00:00:15]
My mamma always said to me Jim take a tater and wait[00:00:20]
Now taters never did taste good with chicken on the plate[00:00:25]
But I had to eat 'em just the same[00:00:30]
That is why I look so bad and have these puny ways[00:00:34]
Because I always had to take an old cold tater and wait[00:00:39]
And then the preachers they would come[00:01:05]
To stay a while with us[00:01:07]
I would have to simp around[00:01:10]
And raise a little fuss[00:01:12]
In fear that I would spill the beans[00:01:14]
Or break a china plate[00:01:17]
My mamma always said to me Jim take a tater and wait[00:01:19]
Now taters never did taste good with chicken on the plate[00:01:25]
But I had to eat 'em just the same[00:01:30]
That is why I look so bad and have these puny ways[00:01:34]
Because I always had to take an old cold tater and wait[00:01:39]
Well I thought that I would starve to death[00:02:06]
Before my time would come[00:02:08]
All that chicken they would eat[00:02:10]
And just leave me the butt[00:02:13]
The feet and neck were all that was left[00:02:15]
Upon the china plate[00:02:17]
It makes ya pretty darn weak[00:02:20]
To take an old cold tater and wait[00:02:21]
Well taters never did taste good with chicken on the plate[00:02:26]
But I had to eat 'em just the same[00:02:30]
That is why I look so bad and have these puny ways[00:02:35]
Because I always had to take an old cold tater and wait[00:02:39]
