Old Rover - Hank Snow[00:00:00]
Written by:Public Domain[00:00:01]
Two little boys and an old family dog[00:00:08]
By the banks of a stream sat one day[00:00:14]
The boys decided old rover must die[00:00:21]
A nusance well out of the way[00:00:28]
The poor old fellow stood close by their side[00:00:35]
His fate he couldn't quite understand[00:00:41]
With a wag of his tail and a half sobbing wail[00:00:48]
He reached out and licked at their hands[00:00:55]
Remember I'm your best friend boys[00:01:02]
Oh no one could love you so true[00:01:09]
Though you may beat me and bang me today[00:01:16]
Tomorrow I'll play games with you[00:01:23]
I know I am old and quite in the way[00:01:29]
But life to me still holds a charm[00:01:36]
Well I've only one favor to ask of you boys[00:01:43]
Let me spend my last days on the farm[00:01:50]
With a rope round his neck they were ready to tie[00:02:04]
His pleading seemed of no avail[00:02:11]
Just then one of the boys slipped and fell in the stream[00:02:17]
The other stood by deadly pale[00:02:24]
A loud cry for help and old rover plunged in[00:02:31]
No sight of old age or delay[00:02:38]
And as he slowly swam back to the shore[00:02:45]
The waves dashing by in his face[00:02:51]
Remember I'm your best friend boys[00:02:58]
Oh no one could love you so true[00:03:05]
Though you may beat me and bang me today[00:03:12]
Tomorrow I'll play games with you[00:03:19]
I know I am old and quite in the way[00:03:25]
But life to me still holds a charm[00:03:32]
Well I've only one favor to ask of you boys[00:03:38]
Let me spend my last days on the farm[00:03:45]
