The Jogger - Bobby Bare[00:00:00]
Well I've been a trucker more[00:00:06]
Than twenty years[00:00:07]
From the Charleston[00:00:08]
Coast to the Jersey piers[00:00:09]
Sharin' the road[00:00:11]
With race car nuts and loggers[00:00:12]
Sunday drivers scouts on hikes[00:00:16]
Hells Angels on Harley bikes[00:00:20]
I never met a roader[00:00:22]
I didn't like cept them joggers[00:00:23]
One day I'm rollin' down 1-0-1[00:00:29]
I got 18 wheels under 14-tons[00:00:32]
Radio playin' a good ol' country rocker[00:00:35]
The day was sure a trucker's dream[00:00:40]
The sky was sunny and the air was clean[00:00:43]
When up ahead on the road[00:00:46]
I seen one of them joggers[00:00:48]
He was dressed like they do in baby blue[00:00:53]
With shortie shorts and a headband too[00:00:55]
I yelled Sweetie I bet[00:00:58]
That you are the hit of the men's room locker[00:01:00]
But I'm a runnin' late with an overload[00:01:04]
So get your Adidas off a this road[00:01:07]
I'm LA bound and I don't slow down[00:01:09]
For dead raccoons or joggers[00:01:12]
Well without breakin' stride or losin' poise[00:01:17]
He said you and[00:01:19]
That rig sure make some noise[00:01:20]
But I can't talk now cause[00:01:22]
I'm racin' against the clocker[00:01:24]
But it's just nine miles to Forkers Leap[00:01:28]
And if you ain't afraid to race that heap[00:01:31]
We'll see how that ol' rig[00:01:34]
Holds up against a super jogger[00:01:36]
Race I must be hearin' wrong[00:01:41]
The boy's been runnin' in the sun too long[00:01:44]
The only place he's racin' to is a doctor's[00:01:47]
But before I could say thank you no[00:01:52]
That fool yells ready get set go[00:01:55]
And the race is on we're off[00:01:58]
And gone me and that maniac jogger[00:02:00]
I could've left him far behind[00:02:08]
But I played with him like a fish on a line[00:02:11]
And I stayed about a half[00:02:13]
A mile behind that sucker[00:02:15]
Then I pushed her up to forty-five[00:02:19]
And he sees me comin' and he starts to fly[00:02:22]
So I pushed her to sixty and shift to high[00:02:25]
And finally catch that jogger[00:02:28]
And it wasn't easy[00:02:30]
Now I'm doin' eighty[00:02:32]
And I turned to check[00:02:34]
And he's stayin' right[00:02:35]
With me neck in neck[00:02:36]
His hearts a thumpin' like[00:02:38]
My engine goin' pop pop pocker[00:02:39]
Then he yells out I hope you're set[00:02:44]
Cause I ain't shifted into second yet[00:02:46]
Then he unwinds and leaves me[00:02:49]
Behind eaten the dust of a jogger[00:02:52]
Then I see him joggin' up into the sky[00:02:56]
And he yells hey thanks for the exercise[00:02:59]
I hope that losin'[00:03:03]
This race was not too shockin'[00:03:04]
See my dad says heaven's no place to run[00:03:08]
And I try to be an obedient son[00:03:12]
So I have to come down[00:03:15]
To earth to do my joggin'[00:03:16]
Well that's my story take it or leave it[00:03:20]
My trucker buddies they believe it[00:03:23]
So do those race car nuts[00:03:26]
And Harley hoggers[00:03:28]
And I'm still drivin' much the same[00:03:32]
Cept I don't call nobody names[00:03:34]
And I tip my hat each time[00:03:37]
I pass one of them good old joggers[00:03:40]
Hey here comes one now [00:03:47]
Hey good buddy[00:03:50]
How ya[00:03:51]
Want some gatorade[00:03:54]
