Texas Rangers - Ian & Sylvia[00:00:00]
Come all ye Texas Rangers wherever you may be[00:00:00]
I'll tell you of some troubles that happened unto me[00:00:06]
My name is nothing extra so that I will not tell[00:00:13]
And here's to all you Rangers I'm sure I wish you well[00:00:20]
Was at the age of seventeen I joined the jolly band[00:00:28]
We marched round San Antonio down to the Ryo Grande[00:00:35]
Our Captain he informed us perhaps he thought it right[00:00:42]
Before we reach the station boys you'll surely have to fight[00:00:48]
And when the bugle sounded our Captain gave command[00:00:57]
To arms to arms he shouted and by your horses stand[00:01:04]
I saw the smoke ascending it seemed to reach the sky[00:01:10]
And then the thought it struck me my time had come to die[00:01:17]
I saw the Indians coming I heard them give a yell[00:01:25]
My feelings at that moment no human tongue can tell[00:01:31]
I saw their glittering lances their arrows 'round me flew[00:01:38]
And all my strength had left me and all my courage too[00:01:45]
We fought for nine hours fully before the strife was o'er[00:01:54]
The likes of dead and wounded I never saw before[00:02:01]
And when the sun had risen and the Indians they had fled[00:02:08]
We loaded up our rifles and counted up our dead[00:02:15]
And all of us were wounded our noble Captain slain[00:02:23]
The sun was shining sadly across that bloody plain[00:02:30]
Sixteen the brave Rangers that never roamed the west[00:02:37]
Were buried by their comrades with arrows in their breast[00:02:44]
And now my song is ended I guess I've sung enough[00:02:53]
The life of any Ranger you see is very tough[00:02:59]
And if you have a mother that don't want you to roam[00:03:06]
I'd advise you by experience you'd better stay at home[00:03:13]
