Thoroughfare Gap - Stephen Stills (史蒂芬·史提斯)[00:00:00]
Sometimes I consider my pace [00:00:12]
I'm reminded of a train[00:00:16]
Gathering speed for climb to the pass in whose shadow[00:00:18]
It already lies a small metal dragon approaching[00:00:26]
The ever present ascending rise to the[00:00:31]
Seventh Mountain[00:00:37]
Reeling and snaking and leaping it seems[00:00:42]
That it wants to come loose from it's path cast in iron[00:00:47]
But you can't slow down now as the earth has presented[00:00:55]
A new crest to reach without barely[00:01:00]
A rest from the last one[00:01:04]
Can you wonder what lies beyond Though you've been[00:01:12]
There before and forget[00:01:17]
About the effort and the strain[00:01:20]
Always ascending [00:01:25]
Each yard as a mile to the never ending pull[00:01:27]
Of the steepening grade that's before you[00:01:33]
A valley a forest a desert [00:01:50]
A stream and an over sized bridge[00:01:53]
For the trickle beneath you remember the torrent[00:01:57]
It turned to last spring from the snow melting fast[00:02:04]
And the river it became in the summer[00:02:10]
Perhaps it is ruin from a fire that has scorched it[00:02:19]
So badly that nothing will grow without rain to wash away[00:02:25]
The blackened soil now useless until called upon again[00:02:33]
In a future as distant and far away[00:02:38]
As the next range of mountains[00:02:43]
Then take it as far as you see and beyond[00:02:49]
With eyes you don't use enough to gather up strength[00:02:56]
As thoroughfare gap what awaits is whatever you see[00:03:02]
When you get there of even before[00:03:08]
It's no matter no distance it's the ride[00:03:14]
