Three Horses - Joan Baez (琼·贝兹)[00:00:00]
In the early dawn a stallion white[00:00:25]
Prances the hills in the morning light [00:00:33]
His bridle is painted with thunder and gold [00:00:41]
Orchids and dragons pale knights of old [00:00:49]
He is the horse of the ages past [00:00:56]
And now the children run to see[00:01:08]
The stallion on the hill [00:01:14]
Bringing bags of apples[00:01:20]
And of clover they have filled [00:01:25]
And the white horse tells his stories[00:01:31]
Of the days now past and gone[00:01:37]
And the children stand a-wondering[00:01:42]
Believing every song [00:01:49]
How brightly glows the past [00:01:55]
When the sun is high comes a mare so red [00:02:18]
Trampling the graves of the living and dead [00:02:26]
Her mantle is heavy with mirrors and glass [00:02:34]
All is reflected when the red mare does pass [00:02:42]
She is the horse of the here and now [00:02:49]
And now there is confusion[00:03:01]
Amongst the children on the hill [00:03:07]
They cling to one another[00:03:13]
And no longer can be still [00:03:18]
While the red mare's voice is trembling[00:03:24]
With a rare and mighty call [00:03:30]
The children start remembering[00:03:36]
The bearers and the pall [00:03:42]
And though their many-colored sweaters[00:03:46]
Are reflected in the glass [00:03:52]
And though the sun shines down upon them [00:03:58]
They are frightened in the grass [00:04:04]
How stark is the here and now [00:04:10]
When night does fall comes a stallion black [00:04:34]
So proud and tall he never looks back [00:04:42]
He wears him no emeralds silver and gold [00:04:49]
Not even a covering to keep him from cold [00:04:57]
He is the horse of the years to come [00:05:05]
And I will get me down[00:05:17]
Before this steed upon my knees[00:05:22]
And sing to him the sorrows[00:05:29]
Of a thousand centuries [00:05:35]
And the children now will scatter[00:05:40]
As their mothers call them home [00:05:46]
For the sadness of the evening horse[00:05:52]
No child has ever known [00:05:58]
And I will hang about him[00:06:04]
A bell that's never rung[00:06:09]
And thank him for the many words[00:06:15]
Which from his throat have never sprung [00:06:20]
And I'll thank God and all the angels[00:06:26]
That the stallion of the evening [00:06:32]
The black horse of the future [00:06:38]
Comes to earth but has no tongue [00:06:44]
