Sweet Sixteen - Judy Garland (朱迪·加兰)[00:00:00]
For fifteen years I've played a waiting game[00:00:09]
I've suffered like they do in Russian plays[00:00:14]
But if what's in store is really what they claim[00:00:20]
I must admit that suffering really pays[00:00:25]
For fifteen years I've been just like a prisoner in a cell[00:00:31]
For fifteen years my life has been just - awful[00:00:36]
From one to four was such a bore[00:00:43]
I remember how I hated having all those people[00:00:46]
Paw all over me and talk baby talk[00:00:49]
They'd say goo-goo isn't she cunning [00:00:50]
Poor dear she has her father's nose [00:00:53]
Ah-tic-a-tic-a-tic-a-tic-a-tic-a [00:00:55]
The years from five to eight I hate [00:00:57]
I've grown into a very unattractive child[00:01:00]
And consequently was utterly and completely ignored [00:01:02]
But I didn't really mind [00:01:06]
I had a book of Mother Goose[00:01:08]
And Mother Goose is pretty[00:01:10]
Hot stuff when you're five years old [00:01:11]
At nine I had the measles so that didn't count [00:01:13]
At ten I'd reached the performing stage[00:01:17]
And at the drop of a hat mother would[00:01:21]
Call me in and have me sing[00:01:23]
The Rosary for her guests [00:01:24]
I never will forget how papa used to squirm[00:01:26]
When I hit that high note [00:01:28]
From eleven to thirteen I'd rather not speak of [00:01:30]
It was bad enough having Jimmy Doogan[00:01:33]
Pull my hair in school[00:01:35]
But it was positively humiliating to have my own mother[00:01:36]
Refer to me as her dear little ugly duckling[00:01:39]
At fourteen I had my first taste of romance [00:01:43]
It was at a party at dancing school[00:01:48]
And he was younger than I was shorter than I was [00:01:51]
Oh but he had a wonderful name - Archibold [00:01:58]
And he really like me too [00:02:02]
Really he did but I had to go and spoil it all [00:02:03]
I asked him right out if he'd be my best beau [00:02:07]
That was the last I ever saw of him [00:02:10]
By now I was fifteen and pretty miserable [00:02:14]
Mother refused to let me wear any lipstick[00:02:18]
Or rouge and I went around looking as pale as death [00:02:19]
It was then that I decided to join the monastary [00:02:25]
And I would have too if it hadn't been for Bing Crosby [00:02:27]
I was afraid they wouldn't have any radios in manastaries [00:02:33]
So I devoted my fifteenth year to Kraft cheese [00:02:37]
But now it's a different story I can brush away the tears[00:02:41]
And lau-augh at those awful fifteen years[00:02:47]
For now I'm [00:02:52]
Sweet Sixteen and I've got my first long dress[00:02:56]
I can even have a date one night a week[00:03:04]
I can paint my lips a little and rouge my cheeks[00:03:10]
I'm sweet sixteen but I really must confess[00:03:15]
Although this grown up life isn't simple[00:03:23]
I wouldn't change places with Shirley Temple[00:03:29]
Gee it's great to be just as free as the birds - above me[00:03:34]
I'm a Juliet out to get a Romeo to love me[00:03:43]
I ask you please forget that I was an in-between[00:03:51]
I mean my flags unfurled I'm a woman of the world[00:03:59]
I'm sweet sixteen[00:04:06]
