But then Billy heard no more from Sue[00:01:29]

He was worried sick but what could he do[00:01:33]

The bullets were screaming as he hugged the ground[00:01:37]

And back home Sue was running round[00:01:41]

Billy was getting less and less strong[00:01:49]

His hope his fate was almost gone[00:01:53]

And then like a miracle the letter appeared[00:01:57]

Billy tore the letter open and he read dear John[00:02:01]

A look came over Billy that would scare a ghost[00:02:09]

Familiar look seen on soldiers coast to coast[00:02:12]

And even though the air was filled with lead[00:02:16]

Billy jumped up they shot him dead[00:02:20]

Billy was buried in a far away grave[00:02:29]

It read for his country his life he gave[00:02:32]

But that epitaph was only in part[00:02:36]

He didn't die from a bullet but he died from a broken heart[00:02:40]
