Charlotte Street (BBC Session 1984) - Lloyd Cole And The Commotions----(replace by 16911)[00:00:00]
I was looking for a rhyme for the New York Times[00:00:17]
When I sensed I was not alone[00:00:20]
She said "do you know how to spell 'audaciously' "[00:00:24]
I could tell I was in love[00:00:28]
And so I forced a smile contrary to my style[00:00:31]
And she looked into my eyes[00:00:35]
She said do you want to go heaven [00:00:38]
Or would you rather not be saved [00:00:41]
Here comes my train[00:00:45]
I'm on my way will you not see [00:00:52]
I don't need your sympathy[00:00:58]
I won't read your poetry oh sweetness please[00:01:02]
So she took me back to her basement flat[00:01:20]
Which was down on Charlotte Street[00:01:24]
Though it was never my intention[00:01:27]
We were not intense not least because--[00:01:31]
"Well if you must just take then I'm a piece of cake"[00:01:35]
That is what she said to me[00:01:38]
And so I gave myself to her charity[00:01:42]
Well at least that's how it seemed[00:01:45]
Here comes my train[00:01:48]
I'm on my way what got into me [00:01:56]
I don't need your sympathy[00:02:02]
I won't read your poetry oh bittersweets[00:02:04]
I was looking for a rhyme for the New York Times when I was distracted[00:02:53]
Yes those were precious times together that we wasted[00:02:59]
Now I'm working hard for my union card[00:03:07]
I must be leaving Charlotte Street[00:03:11]
Though it was never my intention to stay so long[00:03:14]
So long[00:03:21]
