My dear children, hello.[00:00:00]
Oh, no no no children, everyone must answer[00:00:03]
Please hello before we can start. Hello?[00:00:06]
Well, that is better. Now,[00:00:08]
If you would all draw up your chairs and listen very closely[00:00:11]
I will tell you a most unusual story. The story of the little fiddle.[00:00:15]
As it is told in Symphony number 45,[00:00:25]
Which was written by the great Chzekoslovakian composer Andree (gibberish name) Junior.[00:00:28]
Now, this story children is very unusual,[00:00:38]
Because it is told not only with words,[00:00:49]
But also with music.[00:00:52]
But first I want you to meet the symphony orchestra.[00:00:54]
How do you do?[00:01:02]
Shake hands with the trombone[00:01:04]
And the tuba[00:01:06]
And the oboe[00:01:07]
And the saxaphone, sousaphone, zither and xylophone[00:01:08]
Clarinet, buglehorn, fiddle and fuglehorn[00:01:11]
Tinny kazoo and the timpani, too[00:01:13]
And the piccollo, picollo[00:01:15]
Now some of you children may be very surprised to hear[00:01:19]
That the symphony is not only music,[00:01:24]
But that it always tells a story.[00:01:27]
Which has a beginning, a middle, and an end.[00:01:30]
Except for the unfinished symphony,[00:01:35]
Which has a beginning....[00:01:37]
As I was saying[00:01:41]
If you listen you will hear[00:01:43]
From the corner of your ear[00:01:45]
How the oboe she makes love to the bassoon[00:01:46]
And the pipe goes diddle, diddle[00:01:50]
And the fiddle's in the middle[00:01:52]
And the dish ran away with the spoon.[00:01:53]
Heh, heh, heh, that's what she did.[00:01:54]
Well, so. Now we tell the story.[00:01:57]
Which starts with the first movement.[00:01:59]
Presto vivace argomento molto, contabale molto, chocolo molto.[00:02:02]
And we have the first theme which is naturally the theme of the little fiddle.[00:02:06]
Now this little fiddle is a young girl who lives with her wicked guardian,[00:02:14]
Which is a french horn.[00:02:24]
Now this young girl, who is a beautiful girl,[00:02:26]
And her wicked guardian live all alone on a farm.[00:02:38]
And all she has for company are a hen, and a dog, and a nanny goat.[00:02:51]
Now, one day when her wicked guardian,[00:03:15]
The french horn,is upstairs busy washing his coils along came a handsome young trumpet.[00:03:18]
When he clasps his eyes on the little fiddle his heart went zing (musical noise)[00:03:31]
And he gets so excited he has a big cadenza,[00:03:40]
Which is a solo passage in triple time.[00:03:46]
This brings us to the second movement,[00:03:53]
When the little fiddle is happy, and the trumpet is happy.[00:04:36]
When suddenly, out stalks the french horn.[00:04:39]
Ehhhhhh,[00:04:44]
What's going on here says the french horn.[00:04:45]
The little fiddle is so putrified her bridge falls out.[00:04:47]
But the trumpet says, we love each other.[00:04:49]
But the french horn is very objectionable to this marriage.[00:04:51]
And the trumpet blows his top, ah shut up![00:05:02]
Now I know who you are, you are not the french horn at all.[00:05:08]
That (nice music) had me fooled for awhile but the (bad music) gave you away.[00:05:12]
You are a glockenspiel in disguise beyond a doubt wanted by the police for drowning twelve little fiddles out.[00:05:20]
The glockenspiel tries to escape to his flat but the animals are too sharp for him.[00:05:26]
Ow, in the leg![00:05:31]
Ow, in the neck![00:05:37]
Ow, in the face![00:05:40]
Ow, in the other place![00:05:42]
The glockenspiel is trapped, his escape they are foiling,[00:05:45]
So he jumps into a kettle drum, which is boiling.[00:05:48]
