The Lighthouse's Tale - Nickel Creek[00:00:00]
I am a lighthouse[00:00:26]
Worn by the weather and the waves[00:00:29]
I keep my lamp lit[00:00:34]
To warn the sailors on their way[00:00:37]
I'll tell a story[00:00:42]
Paint you a picture from my past[00:00:46]
I was so happy[00:00:51]
But joy in this life seldom lasts[00:00:54]
I had a keeper[00:01:16]
He helped me warn the ships at sea[00:01:19]
We had grown closer[00:01:24]
'Til his joy meant everything to me[00:01:27]
He was to marry[00:01:32]
A girl who shone with beauty and light[00:01:35]
They loved each other[00:01:40]
And with me[00:01:43]
Watched the sunsets into nights[00:01:44]
And the waves crash around me [00:01:49]
The sand slips out to sea [00:01:53]
And the winds that blow remind me[00:01:57]
Of what has been [00:02:01]
And what can never be[00:02:05]
She'd had to leave us[00:02:26]
My keeper [00:02:29]
He prayed for a safe return[00:02:30]
But when the night came[00:02:34]
The weather to a[00:02:37]
Raging storm had turned[00:02:39]
He watched her ship fight[00:02:42]
But in vain against[00:02:45]
The wild and terrible wind[00:02:47]
In me so helpless[00:02:51]
As dashed against the[00:02:54]
Rocks she met her end[00:02:55]
And the waves crash around me [00:02:59]
The sand slips out to sea [00:03:04]
And the winds that blow remind me[00:03:08]
Of what has been [00:03:11]
And what can never be[00:03:15]
Then on the next day[00:03:37]
My keeper found her[00:03:40]
Washed up on the shore[00:03:41]
He kissed her cold face[00:03:44]
And that they'd be together[00:03:48]
Soon he swore[00:03:49]
I saw him crying[00:03:53]
Watched as he buried in the sand[00:03:56]
Then he climbed my tower[00:04:01]
And off the edge of me he ran[00:04:04]
And the waves crash around me [00:04:09]
The sand slips out to sea [00:04:14]
And the winds that blow remind me[00:04:18]
Of what has been [00:04:22]
And what can never be[00:04:25]
I am a lighthouse[00:04:39]
Worn by the weather and the waves[00:04:42]
And though I'm empty[00:04:47]
I still warn the sailors on their way[00:04:50]
