[00:00:03] The Story of the First Christmas - Perry Como [00:00:30] This is Perry Como [00:00:31] And I'd like to tell you the most wonderful [00:00:33] The most beautiful [00:00:35] The most exciting story in the whole world [00:00:39] The Story of the First Christmas [00:00:44] Now suppose you make believe [00:00:45] This is many many years ago [00:00:47] A long time before you were born [00:00:50] You're standing on a hillside [00:00:51] Near a little town in Palestine [00:00:55] Do you see the man in the distance [00:00:56] Walking slowly leading a donkey [00:01:00] His name is Joseph [00:01:03] Someone is sitting on the back of the donkey [00:01:06] And her name is Mary [00:01:09] They've come a long long way [00:01:11] And they're heading for a little town near the hillside [00:01:14] On which we're standing [00:01:16] Something very special will happen [00:01:19] In this little town tonight [00:01:21] For this is the little town of Bethlehem [00:01:32] Oh little town of Bethlehem [00:01:39] How still we see thee lie [00:01:45] Above thy deep and dreamless sleep [00:01:51] The silent stars go by [00:01:59] Yet in thy dark streets shineth [00:02:05] The everlasting light [00:02:11] The hopes and fears of all the years [00:02:18] Are met in thee tonight [00:02:32] Let's follow Joseph and Mary [00:02:34] Into the town of Bethlehem [00:02:37] It's getting dark and all of [00:02:38] The rooms at the Inn are taken [00:02:40] But the kindly Innkeeper tells them [00:02:42] They could spend the night at a stable nearby [00:02:46] Now I told you something was gonna happen [00:02:49] And it did [00:02:50] A baby boy is born to Mary and Joseph [00:02:53] Whom they call Jesus [00:02:56] They have no baby's crib [00:02:57] So Mary puts little Jesus to sleep [00:03:00] In the soft sweet hay of a manger [00:03:04] Come come come to the manger [00:03:08] Children sing and asleep on the hay [00:03:13] Sing sing chorus of Angels [00:03:19] Little Lord Jesus is born on this day [00:03:30] Jesus is asleep in the manger [00:03:32] So let's tiptoe out to the hillside near Bethlehem [00:03:35] Where the Shepherds are tending their flock [00:03:39] All at once the Shepherds are frightened [00:03:41] You'd be frightened too [00:03:42] Because a great light suddenly shines in the sky [00:03:50] Even the animals are hushed and still [00:03:53] But then you hear the voice of an Angel of the Lord [00:04:02] And you're no longer frightened [00:04:04] For the Angel brings good news [00:04:06] News of a Saviour born this day [00:04:09] News of Christ the Lord [00:04:15] The First Noel the Angels did say [00:04:22] Was to certain poor Shepherds [00:04:27] In fields as they lay in fields where they [00:04:33] Lay keeping their sheep [00:04:37] On a cold winter's night that was so deep [00:04:45] Noel Noel Noel Noel [00:04:54] Born is the King of Israel [00:05:09] Well we're still with the Shepherds [00:05:10] On the hillside near Bethlehem [00:05:13] We hear the Shepherds ask the Angel [00:05:15] Where to find the Christ-child [00:05:17] And the Angel tells them to go to the manger [00:05:22] And as they leave the sky is filled with [00:05:23] Other Angels singing [00:05:25] Glory to God And on Earth Peace Goodwill to Men [00:05:39] The Shepherds hurry to the manger [00:05:41] Fall on their knees before the baby [00:05:43] And they worship him [00:05:45] For He is Christ the Lord [00:05:51] Oh Come all ye faithful [00:05:57] Joyful and triumphant [00:06:03] Oh Come ye Oh Come ye to Bethlehem [00:06:16] Come and behold Him [00:06:21] Born the King of Angels [00:06:27] Oh Come let us adore Him [00:06:34] Oh Come let us adore Him [00:06:42] Oh Come let us adore Him [00:06:50] Christ the Lord [00:07:04] And now look up into the sky [00:07:05] Do you see that bright star [00:07:06] Twinkling in the heavens [00:07:09] Far away three men are looking at [00:07:10] That star just as we are
