[00:00:00] This is the story of the hare who lost his spectacles
[00:00:16] Owl loved to rest quietly whilst no one was watching
[00:00:22] Sitting on a fence one day
[00:00:24] He was surprised when suddenly a kangaroo ran close by
[00:00:31] Now this may not
[00:00:32] Seem strange
[00:00:34] But when owl overheard kangaroo whisper to no one in particular
[00:00:40] The hare has lost his spectacles
[00:00:44] Well he began to wonder
[00:00:51] Presently the moon appeared from behind a cloud and there
[00:00:56] Lying on the grass was hare
[00:01:02] In the stream that flowed by the grass a newt
[00:01:11] And sitting astride a twig of a bush a bee
[00:01:32] Ostensibly motionless
[00:01:34] The hare was trembling with excitement
[00:01:39] For without his spectacles he was completely helpless
[00:01:45] Where were his spectacles
[00:01:48] Could someone have stolen them had he mislaid them
[00:01:53] What was he to do bee wanted to help
[00:02:01] And thinking he had the answer began
[00:02:04] You probably ate them thinking they were a carrot
[00:02:15] No interrupted owl who was wise
[00:02:19] I have good eye sight insight and foresight
[00:02:23] How could an intelligent hare make such a silly mistake
[00:02:28] But all this time owl had been sitting on the fence
[00:02:31] Scowling kangaroo were hopping mad at this sort of talk
[00:02:43] She thought herself far superior in intelligence to the others
[00:02:49] She was their leader their guru
[00:02:53] She had the answer
[00:02:54] Hare you must go in search of the optician
[00:02:59] But then she realized that hare was completely helpless
[00:03:04] Without his spectacles
[00:03:06] And so kangaroo loudly proclaimed
[00:03:11] I can't send hare in search of anything
[00:03:14] You can guru you can shouted newt
[00:03:18] You can send him with owl
[00:03:20] But owl had gone to sleep
[00:03:24] Newt knew too much to be stopped by so small a problem
[00:03:29] You can take him in your pouch but alas
[00:03:32] Hare was much too big to fit into kangaroo's pouch
[00:03:40] All this time it had been quite plain to hare
[00:03:43] That the others knew nothing about spectacles
[00:03:49] As for all their tempting ideas well hare didn't care
[00:04:00] The lost spectacles were his own affair
[00:04:05] And after all hare did have a spare a pair a pair
[00:05:32] We sleep by the ever bright hole in the door
[00:05:38] Eat in the corner talk to the floor
[00:05:43] Cheating the spiders who come to say please
[00:05:50] They bend at the knees
[00:05:54] Well I'll go to the foot of our stairs
[00:05:58] Old gentlemen talk of when they were young
[00:06:04] Of ladies lost and erring sons
[00:06:10] Lace covered dandies revel was friends
[00:06:15] Pure as the truth tied at both ends
[00:06:20] Well I'll go to the foot of our stairs
[00:06:25] Scented cathedral spire pointed down
[00:06:30] We pray for souls in kittenish town
[00:06:36] A delicate hush the gods floating by
[00:06:41] Wishing us well pie in the sky
[00:06:47] God of ages lord of time mine is the right to be wrong
[00:06:58] Well I'll go to the foot of our stairs
[00:07:03] Jack rabbit mister spawn a new breed of love hungry pilgrims
[00:07:13] Show me a good man and I'll show you the door
[00:07:18] The last hymn is sung and the devil cries more
