Seven Little Indians - John Hiatt (约翰·亥特)[00:00:00]
There were seven little Indians[00:00:31]
Livin' in a brick house on Central Avenue[00:00:36]
Gathered 'round their daddy[00:00:41]
Tellin' stories in the living room[00:00:43]
From a slightly unrealistic point of view[00:00:45]
Momma was off yonder in the kitchen somewhere[00:00:50]
Boiling up some hot water for them to all get up to their necks in[00:00:55]
The seven little Indians knew[00:01:00]
If the rest of the tribe ever scrutinized their household[00:01:02]
Somehow it would not pass inspection[00:01:06]
Big chief railed on[00:01:20]
And spun his tales of brave conquest[00:01:21]
About the moving of his little band[00:01:24]
Up to Alaska where the caribou run free[00:01:26]
See he'd done time putting in telephone lines[00:01:29]
For the army during World War II[00:01:32]
And even brought back a picture of a frozen mastodon[00:01:35]
For the little Indians to see[00:01:38]
And some mukluks and some sealskin gloves[00:01:40]
And a coat with beads around the collar[00:01:42]
His wife kept them in the mothballs[00:01:45]
Underneath the Hudson Bays[00:01:48]
And every once and a while he'd get wound up[00:01:49]
With one of his stories he'd put them all on[00:01:51]
And dance around in that blue TV screen light[00:01:54]
Like it was some campfire blazing away[00:01:57]
Well he stamped and he hollered[00:02:09]
But he could not stay warm in that living room[00:02:11]
And even the seven little Indians[00:02:14]
Well they could feel the chill[00:02:16]
And although everything always worked[00:02:19]
Out for the better in all of his stories[00:02:21]
In that old brick house it always felt like[00:02:23]
Something was movin' in for the kill[00:02:25]
Blazing like a trail[00:02:29]
Shot through the eyes of the seven little Indians[00:02:31]
Blazing like an arrow[00:02:34]
Shot (Incomprehensible) stronghold out in Arizona[00:02:36]
Blazing like the sheets of light dancing up in the sky[00:02:40]
Up above Anchorage[00:02:43]
Blazing like a star shot down to the ground[00:02:45]
Back home again in Indiana[00:02:48]
Now it finally got so quiet you could hear a pin drop[00:03:09]
They started dropping like flies[00:03:12]
The oldest little Indian got sick and vanished[00:03:14]
And the big chief went two years later[00:03:17]
And the mama raised the six little Indians up[00:03:19]
The best she could[00:03:21]
To be housewives musicians and insurance salesmen[00:03:23]
But they all shared this common denominator[00:03:25]
You see all the characters in the big chief's stories[00:03:37]
Were named after the seven little Indians[00:03:41]
And like I said in his stories everything[00:03:44]
Always worked out for the better[00:03:46]
And now as I'm telling this stuff to my own kids[00:03:48]
Dancing around the TV screen light[00:03:52]
Well I wish I had those mukluks those sealskin gloves[00:03:54]
And that coat with beads around the collar[00:03:59]
