Story 2 - clipping.[00:00:00]
Godsmack is how the wind feels[00:00:03]
On the face of Mike Winfield[00:00:04]
On his way home from the bar where he works[00:00:06]
Nights the worst nights don't nobody tip right[00:00:08]
And between the marriage offers and the fist fights[00:00:11]
And if another motherf**ker touch his wrist[00:00:13]
Trying to pull him in to whisper[00:00:15]
He ain't making it to midnight[00:00:16]
Don't they know he got a lighter in his pocket[00:00:17]
A matchbook in his sock and a block full of charred skeletons[00:00:19]
Closeted begging to get out[00:00:22]
He paused cause he's scared of airing out the thoughts[00:00:24]
He can taste it in his mouth the sulfur and bitter carbon[00:00:25]
Hearing all the burning bodies shout but no[00:00:27]
That was a full lifetime ago and nobody ever has to know[00:00:29]
He has never told well except Ronald[00:00:33]
But that don't count he was sweet and exactly[00:00:35]
What he needed him to be at the time[00:00:37]
Wine and candlelight and nice texts at lunchtime[00:00:39]
Why had he not called Ron back[00:00:42]
Guess there just wasn't a spark ha[00:00:44]
No no musn't joke about these things[00:00:47]
Wouldn't want to disappoint Doc Clark[00:00:48]
So many hours on the couch[00:00:50]
So many buried memories that take so many tears to get them out[00:00:52]
Water hadn't never been a friend[00:00:55]
Hold up where had he seen that car before[00:00:57]
Blue Acura dent on the left rear fender[00:01:00]
Back again the sense of[00:01:03]
Deja Vu[00:01:04]
Strange things you[00:01:05]
Never shake when you wake up in recovery[00:01:06]
But suddenly noticing ash is covering his head cause it's raining from the sky[00:01:09]
Dials home on his cell phone and gets no reply[00:01:12]
What the f**k[00:01:14]
Where is the babysitter that he overpays[00:01:15]
Body takes over and brain becomes disengaged[00:01:17]
Michael is running his house is three blocks away[00:01:19]
Adrenaline compensating for change in age[00:01:21]
Since the last time that he ran it god dammit[00:01:24]
Mike knows he gotta get home fast as he can[00:01:26]
Looks up in the sky glow's familiar[00:01:28]
Knows those families died with similar[00:01:29]
Awnings and on and on he keeps going[00:01:31]
Hits the corner just as he hears the explosion[00:01:32]
Screams come from the house did you get them out[00:01:34]
Mike asking the crowd that has gathered 'round[00:01:36]
Tears running down his face[00:01:38]
There's that familiar taste[00:01:38]
He wishes it would take him to another place[00:01:39]
Son and his baby girl in his home and he can't believe[00:01:41]
That it's gone in a cloud of smoke[00:01:43]
And he's choking and running forward and hoping against hope[00:01:44]
That he might find them alive and well[00:01:46]
When he knows the results too well and he knows that fooled himself[00:01:48]
And he keeps walking towards the house rather what house is still left[00:01:50]
No intention of stopping letting the smoke take his breath[00:01:53]
Some strong arm rocks him aside Mike falls to the ground and cries[00:01:55]
Why won't you just let me die[00:01:58]
Why won't you just let me die[00:01:59]
