Woody’s Rag/Hard Work

Woody's Rag/Hard Work - Arlo Guthrie (阿洛·古利)[00:00:00]

While we're on the subject of hard work I just wanted[00:00:27]

To say that I always was a man to work[00:00:30]

I was born working and I worked my way up by hard work[00:00:33]

I ain't never got nowhere yet but I got there by[00:00:37]

Hard work[00:00:40]

Work of the hardest kind I been down and I been out[00:00:41]

And I've been busted disgusted and couldn't be trusted[00:00:44]

I worked my way up and I worked my way down[00:00:48]

I've been drunk and I've been sober I've had hard times[00:00:51]

And I got hijacked and been robbed for cash and robbed[00:00:54]

On credit[00:00:57]

Worked my way into jail and outta jail and I woke up[00:00:59]

A lotto mornings and I didn't even know where I was at[00:01:03]

But the hardest work I ever done is when I was trying[00:01:06]

To get myself a worried woman to ease my worried[00:01:09]

Mind[00:01:12]

Now I'm gonna tell you just about how much hard[00:01:14]

Work I had to do to get this here woman that I'm a-tellin'[00:01:16]

You about[00:01:20]

I shook hands with 97 of her kinfolks and her blood[00:01:21]

Relatives and I done the same with 86 people that was[00:01:25]

Just her friends and her neighbors[00:01:28]

Kissed 73 babies and put dry pants on 34 of 'em as well[00:01:31]

As others and done the When thing several times as well[00:01:35]

As a lot of other things just about like this[00:01:39]

I held 125 head of wild horses put saddles and bridles[00:01:43]

On more than that harnessed some of the craziest[00:01:48]

Wildest teams in the whole country I rode 14 loco[00:01:51]

Broncos to a dead standstill and let 42 hound dogs lick[00:01:55]

Me all over[00:01:59]

7 times I was bit by hungry dogs and I was chewed[00:02:00]

All to pieces by water moccasins and rattlesnakes on[00:02:03]

2 separate river bottoms[00:02:06]

I chopped and I carried 314 arm loads of stoves[00:02:08]

Wood 100 buckets of coal and I carried a gallon of[00:02:12]

Kerosene 18 miles and lost a good pair of shoes in a[00:02:16]

Mud hole[00:02:19]

And I chopped and I weeded 48 rows of short cotton[00:02:20]

13 acres of bad corn and cut the sticker weeds out of[00:02:24]

11 back yards all on account a 'cause I wanted to[00:02:27]

Show her that I was a man and I liked to work[00:02:31]

I cleaned out 9 barn loads and cranked 31 automobiles[00:02:35]

All makes and models pulled 3 cars out of mud[00:02:39]

Holes and 4 out of snowdrifts[00:02:42]

I dug 5 cisterns of water for some of her friends and[00:02:45]

Neighbors and run all kinds of errands[00:02:48]

I played the fiddle for 9 church meetings and I joined[00:02:50]

11 separate denominations I signed up and joined[00:02:53]

Up for 7 of the best trade unions I could find and paid[00:02:57]

My dues about 6 weeks ahead of time waded 40[00:03:01]

Miles of swamps 60 big rivers walked across 2[00:03:04]

Mountain ranges and crossed 3 deserts[00:03:07]

I got the fever and I got the sun stroke and I got the[00:03:10]

Malaria and I got the flu and I got moonstruck and[00:03:13]

Skeeter bit the poison ivy and the 7 year itch and the[00:03:16]

Blind staggers[00:03:19]

I was given up for lost and dead about 2 dozen times[00:03:21]

Struck by lightning struck by Congress struck[00:03:25]

By friends and kinfolks as well as by 3 cars on[00:03:27]

The highways and a lotto times in peoples'[00:03:30]

Hen houses[00:03:33]

I been hit and run down and run over and[00:03:34]

Walked on and knocked around and I'm just[00:03:37]

Settin' here now trying to study up what else I[00:03:39]

Can do to show that woman that I still ain't afraid[00:03:42]

Of hard work[00:03:44]
