El Paso(Live at Winterland, San Francisco, CA 10/16-20/74; 2017 Remaster)

El Paso (Live At Winterland, San Francisco, CA 10/16-20/74) - Grateful Dead (感恩而死)[00:00:00]

Written by:Marty Robbins[00:00:04]

Out in the west Texas town of El Paso[00:00:13]

I fell in love with a Mexican girl[00:00:16]

Nighttime would find me in Rose's cantina[00:00:21]

Music would play and Felina would whirl[00:00:24]

Black as the night were the eyes of Felina[00:00:29]

Wicked and evil while casting a spell[00:00:32]

My love was strong for this Mexican maiden[00:00:37]

I was in love but in vain I could tell[00:00:40]

One night a wild young cowboy came in[00:00:45]

Wild as the west Texas wind[00:00:49]

Dashing and daring a drink he was sharing[00:00:56]

With wicked Felina the girl that I love[00:00:59]

So in anger I challenged[00:01:02]

His right for the love of this maiden[00:01:04]

Down went his hand for the gun that he wore[00:01:06]

My challenge was answered in less than a heartbeat[00:01:12]

The handsome young stranger lay dead on the floor[00:01:14]

Just for a moment I stood there in silence[00:01:20]

Shocked by the foul evil deed I had done[00:01:22]

Many thoughts raced through my mind as I stood there[00:01:28]

I had but one chance and that was to run[00:01:30]

Out through the back door of roses I ran[00:01:36]

Out where the horses were tied[00:01:38]

I picked a good one it looked like he could run[00:01:46]

Up on his back and away I did ride[00:01:49]

Just as fast as I could from the west Texas town of El Paso[00:01:52]

Out through the badlands of new Mexico[00:01:56]

Back in El Paso my life would be worthless[00:02:02]

Everything is gone in life nothing is left[00:02:04]

But it's been so long since I've seen the young maiden[00:02:09]

My love is stronger that my fear of death[00:02:13]

I saddled up and away I did go[00:02:17]

Riding alone in the dark[00:02:20]

Maybe tomorrow a bullet may find me[00:02:23]

Tonight nothing's worse than this pain in my heart[00:02:31]

But at last here I am on the hill overlooking El Paso[00:02:34]

I can see Rose's cantina below[00:02:38]

My love is strong and it pushes me onward[00:02:44]

Down off the hill to Felina I go[00:02:46]

Off to my right I see five mounted cowboys[00:02:51]

Off to my left ride a dozen or more[00:02:54]

Shouting and shooting I can't let them catch me[00:02:59]

I've got to make it to Rose's back door[00:03:03]

Something is dreadfully wrong for I feel[00:03:07]

A deep burning pain in my side[00:03:10]

It's getting harder to stay in the saddle[00:03:13]

I'm getting weary unable to ride[00:03:21]

But my love for Felina is strong[00:03:24]

And I rise where I've fallen[00:03:27]

Though I am weary I can't stop to rest[00:03:28]

I see the white puff of smoke from the rifle[00:03:33]

I feel the bullet go deep in my chest[00:03:36]

From out of nowhere Felina has found me[00:03:41]

Kissing my cheek as she kneels by my side[00:03:44]

Cradled by two loving arms that I'll die for[00:03:49]

One little kiss and Felina goodbye[00:03:52]
