The Dixieland Band - Helen Ward/Benny Goodman (本尼·古得曼)[00:00:00]
Written by:Bernie Hanighen/Johnny Mercer[00:00:01]
D'y'ever hear the story of The Dixieland Band[00:00:06]
Let me tell ya brother that the music was grand[00:00:10]
They had a piano and a clarinet[00:00:13]
Only thing they needed was a second cornet[00:00:16]
And that's what lead to the ruin ruin of The Dixieland Band[00:00:20]
When the folks would holler for the Maple Leaf Rag[00:00:26]
They would get to swingin' but the trumpet would drag[00:00:29]
They had to keep him 'cause he played so sweet[00:00:32]
But they needed someone who could give them a beat[00:00:35]
Someone who's born with the rhythm rhythm of The Dixieland Band[00:00:39]
He'd play so sweetly 'stead o' playin'[00:00:45]
He'd play so sweetly they'd be sayin'[00:00:58]
Sure enough he got 'em so they couldn't play right[00:01:32]
Finally he digged 'em on a Saturday night[00:01:35]
He hit a note that was off the chord[00:01:38]
Apoplexy got 'em and they went to the Lord[00:01:41]
And that is the pitiful story the story of The Dixieland Band[00:01:45]
Now they're up in heaven and they're happy at last[00:01:51]
'Cause they found a trumpet man who really can blast[00:01:54]
The way he swings 'em is an awful shame[00:01:58]
He can really do it - Gabriel is his name[00:02:00]
And now folks here is a sample listen to The Dixieland Band[00:02:04]
If you hear a trumpet start to play[00:02:38]
Don't you be afraid it's the Judgement Day[00:02:41]
'Cause it's just Mister Gabriel soundin' his A[00:02:44]
And The Dixieland Band is fixin' to play[00:02:50]
