The Kiss - Jake Thackray[00:00:00]
She kissed me like a child; fresh[00:00:07]
And peckish like a child;[00:00:09]
She was wild as little strawberries [00:00:11]
But though she kissed me[00:00:13]
As a child would do [00:00:14]
She clung on a little longer[00:00:16]
Than she needed to [00:00:18]
I did it for a dare: "Go and[00:00:22]
Kiss her for a dare "[00:00:24]
In the middle of the village square [00:00:25]
She was as seventeenish as the month of May [00:00:27]
And her daddy was a butcher[00:00:31]
In a pie-and-puddings way [00:00:33]
But then this kiss this kiss [00:00:37]
This little skirmish of a kiss[00:00:38]
Was importunately witnessed[00:00:40]
By the twitching whiskers and the bulging eyes[00:00:42]
Of a couple of the local[00:00:46]
Ladies who were passing by [00:00:47]
Passing by passing by [00:00:49]
Couple of the local ladies[00:00:54]
Who were passing by [00:00:55]
It was misunderstood this[00:01:04]
Pretty kiss misunderstood[00:01:06]
By the squinting sisterhood [00:01:07]
And thus the whisper whisper[00:01:09]
Went from pinafore to pinafore [00:01:10]
Every "Tut-tut " more grievous[00:01:13]
Than the "Well I never " before [00:01:14]
Until her daddy heard her[00:01:18]
Demented daddy heard[00:01:20]
Every grisly whispered word [00:01:22]
And stepping fresh from the[00:01:23]
Slaughterhouse the crimson butcher ran [00:01:25]
The steam around his shoulders still [00:01:27]
A cleaver still in his hand [00:01:29]
"Well you may buy my pies " he cries [00:01:33]
"my puddings buy my pies [00:01:35]
"Keep your whippersnapping eyes[00:01:36]
"From off the juicy beauty of my daughter who[00:01:38]
"Is a tit-bit far too tasty for the[00:01:42]
Lips of the likes of you [00:01:44]
"Likes of you likes of you [00:01:45]
"Far too tasty for the lips of the[00:01:50]
Layabout likes of you "[00:01:51]
He swung his cleaver high swung[00:02:00]
His whistling cleaver high [00:02:02]
And his cry was agonising:[00:02:03]
"I shall follow King Solomon's[00:02:05]
Decision inasmuch[00:02:07]
"As I'm off to split you down the[00:02:08]
Middle easy collarbone to crutch "[00:02:10]
But with a single bound his daughter [00:02:14]
With a springy bound[00:02:16]
Flung her arms and legs around me singing [00:02:18]
"Split all you wish to Daddy let the cleaver fall [00:02:20]
"And you shall split me likewise [00:02:23]
Precious titbits and all "[00:02:25]
"I am my own to give nobody[00:02:29]
Else but mine to give [00:02:31]
"Perhaps I'll give it to this whippersnapper [00:02:32]
"Backbone to belly-button tongue-tip to toe [00:02:35]
"From nipples up above to bushy triangle below [00:02:38]
"Down below down below [00:02:41]
"My tangled diamond down below "[00:02:46]
Which came as news to me both[00:02:55]
To the butcher man and me [00:02:58]
But who was I to disagree [00:02:59]
What with my nose in her breastbone [00:03:01]
Her haunches in my hand[00:03:02]
And a chopper in the offing [00:03:04]
There was a lot to understand [00:03:06]
The cleaver never never fell [00:03:10]
The jealous cleaver never fell [00:03:12]
And although my eyes were elsewhere [00:03:13]
By a pressing little message of[00:03:15]
Her elbows and thighs[00:03:17]
She'd let me know her daddy'd[00:03:19]
Gone tears in his eyes [00:03:21]
She kissed me like a child; fresh[00:03:25]
And peckish like a child;[00:03:27]
She was wild as little strawberries [00:03:28]
But though she kissed me as[00:03:30]
A child would do [00:03:32]
She clung on a little longer[00:03:34]
Than she needed to [00:03:35]
Needed to needed to [00:03:37]
On a little longer than she[00:03:42]
Needed to do[00:03:43]
