It's Raining Here This Morning - Grandpa Jones[00:00:00]
Written by:Carter Stanley[00:00:03]
Oh it's raining raining raining here this morning[00:00:05]
As I sit in jail and hang my head in shame[00:00:09]
With a smile I try to greet each early dawning[00:00:13]
But they've given me a number for my name[00:00:17]
Many a little raindrops are falling close to me[00:00:22]
Makes the streams and rivers[00:00:26]
Just as muddy as can be[00:00:27]
It's raining raining raining here this morning[00:00:30]
As the Mississippi flows on to the sea[00:00:34]
How I wish that I could see my little darling[00:00:54]
And hold her in my arms just as before[00:00:58]
I used to tell her every day I loved her[00:01:02]
But now she doesn't love me anymore[00:01:07]
She knew that I was guiltless of this one crime[00:01:11]
And said that she'd be waiting there for me[00:01:15]
But she has found somewhere else to wander[00:01:19]
Where the Mississippi flows on to the sea[00:01:23]
It's raining raining raining here this morning[00:01:45]
And I am just as weary as can be[00:01:49]
I wish that I could follow all the raindrops[00:01:52]
Down the Mississippi toward the silver sea[00:01:57]
But there's no way to prove that I'm not guilty[00:02:01]
So I will have to suffer all the shame[00:02:05]
Go and tell her for me little raindrops[00:02:10]
That they've given me a number for my name[00:02:14]
