Hills Of Mexico - Ricky Skaggs[00:00:00]
When I's in old Fort Worth in eighteen and eighty-three[00:00:08]
Saw a Mexican cowboy come ridin' up to me[00:00:16]
Sayin' how are you young fellow how would you like to go[00:00:26]
And spend another summer in the hills of Mexico[00:00:36]
Well I had no appointment back to him I did say[00:00:44]
It's accordin' to your wages[00:00:52]
Accordin' to your pay[00:00:56]
I will pay to you good wages and often too you know[00:01:02]
If you'll spend another season in the hills of Mexico[00:01:12]
Now with all this flatterin' talkin' he signed up quite a train[00:01:56]
Some ten or twelve in number some able bodied men[00:02:05]
And our trip it was pleasant as we hit the western road[00:02:14]
Till we crossed the old Peace River to those hills of Mexico[00:02:23]
It was there our pleasures ended and our troubles all begun[00:02:31]
Was a lightening storm that hit us and made the cattle run[00:02:40]
And we all got full of stickers from the cactus that did grow[00:02:49]
And the outlaws there to rob us in those hills of Mexico[00:02:58]
Well they sent along that old steamboat and back to home did go[00:03:06]
How those bells started ringing the whistles they did blow[00:03:14]
Going back to friends and loves ones and I'll tell them not to go[00:03:24]
To that God-forsaken country in those hills of Mexico[00:03:34]
