Lamplight Symphony (Live in US 2017) - Kansas[00:00:00]
Written by:Kerry Livgren[00:00:02]
On a winter's night stars are cold and bright in the sky[00:00:35]
The slumber of the earth is pure and deep[00:00:42]
From a distant wood drifts the echo of a beast[00:00:48]
The old man stirs and wakens in the night[00:00:54]
He stands before his window gazing at the grave[00:00:59]
Forgotten dreams are flashing through his weary mind[00:01:06]
And though his life is empty he pretends that she's still there[00:01:12]
With hunger in his soul he yearns for life and love gone by[00:01:24]
With memories his one and only joy[00:01:31]
All he has to give he would give to bring back the life[00:01:37]
And raise the one who lies beneath the snow[00:01:42]
He lights a lamp and looks at pictures of the past[00:01:45]
The faces of their youth still glow with new found love[00:01:54]
But the picture's faded and time has stolen youth away[00:02:01]
With a spoken word that he thought he heard from her lips[00:02:22]
He felt another presence in the room[00:02:27]
He was filled with fear but filled with joy he arose[00:02:32]
And turned to face the image that he knew[00:02:36]
She stood before him and her hand reached out for his[00:02:43]
A peaceful light shone in her eyes[00:02:49]
She said she'd come to soothe him and someday they'd be as one[00:02:55]
She began to fade and her image disappeared[00:06:39]
So he was left alone to face the night[00:06:45]
Never in his life had he been so held in awe[00:06:51]
As he faced the apparition of his wife[00:06:58]
He stood before the window gazing at the grave[00:07:03]
And with a lightened heart he saw the first of dawn[00:07:09]
He knew that she was waiting that someday they'd be as one[00:07:15]
