Bamboo - Robert Ellis[00:00:00]
Written by:Robert Elli[00:00:02]
It was field of bamboo trees[00:00:38]
Behind the house down by the creek[00:00:42]
And the summer there got so hot[00:00:49]
There were swarms of mosquitos[00:00:52]
Around that old wood dock[00:00:54]
But that field was all cut down[00:01:03]
Oh I akin back there[00:01:09]
Since I left town[00:01:12]
And that dark house[00:01:16]
All but washed away[00:01:18]
Just a crude reminder[00:01:22]
Of what it was yesterday[00:01:26]
It was there that[00:01:33]
I first learnt to shoot[00:01:35]
I steadied my aim[00:01:37]
Pulled the trigger of that old 202[00:01:38]
I learnt to build things made of scrap wood[00:01:47]
With hammer and nails I did I could[00:01:51]
To be just like you[00:01:54]
But sold those guns and bought a car[00:02:01]
I don't have nowhere to shoot them[00:02:07]
I don't have a backyard[00:02:11]
And I don't build much anymore[00:02:15]
I spend all night time working[00:02:20]
Buy what I need at the store[00:02:24]
Ain't it funny how memories can feel[00:02:31]
Ain't it strange what time can steal[00:02:37]
There ain't one thing good[00:02:44]
About being on the bad and overdeal[00:02:47]
Like getting memories in place of something that was real[00:02:51]
Ain't it funny how things can change[00:02:58]
Ain't it strange what comes with age[00:03:04]
There ain't nothing good about getting[00:03:11]
Old and going grey[00:03:15]
And losing dear friends along the way[00:03:17]
