The Jogger - Bobby Bare (Bobby Bare)[00:00:00]
Well I've been a trucker now for twenty years[00:00:06]
From the Charleston coast to the Jersey piers[00:00:08]
And sharin' the road with the race[00:00:11]
Car nuts and loggers[00:00:13]
Sunday drivers scouts on hikes[00:00:17]
Hells Angels on Harley bikes[00:00:19]
I never met a roader I didn't like[00:00:22]
Cept them joggers[00:00:25]
One day I'm rollin' down 1-0-1[00:00:29]
I got 18 wheels and a 14-ton[00:00:31]
Radio playin' a good ol' country rocker[00:00:34]
The day was surely a trucker's dream[00:00:40]
The sky was sunny and the air was clean[00:00:43]
When up ahead on the road[00:00:46]
I seen one of them joggers[00:00:47]
He was dressed like they do in baby blue[00:00:52]
With shortie shorts and a headband too[00:00:55]
I yelled Sweetie I bet that you are the hit[00:00:57]
Of the men's room locker[00:01:01]
Well I'm a runnin' late with an overload[00:01:03]
So get your Adidas off a this road[00:01:06]
I'm LA bound and I don't slow down[00:01:09]
For dead raccoons or joggers[00:01:11]
Well without breakin' stride or losin' poise[00:01:16]
He said you and that rig sure make some noise[00:01:18]
But I can't talk now cause[00:01:21]
I'm racin' against the clocker[00:01:23]
But it's just nine miles to Forkers Leap[00:01:26]
And if you ain't afraid to race that heap[00:01:29]
We'll see how that ol' rig holds up[00:01:32]
Against a super jogger[00:01:35]
Race I must be hearin' wrong[00:01:39]
The boy's been runnin' in the sun too long[00:01:42]
The only place he's a racin' to is a doctor's[00:01:45]
But before I could say hey thank ya no[00:01:50]
That fool yells ready get set go[00:01:53]
And the race is on and we're off[00:01:55]
And gone me and that maniac jogger[00:01:57]
I could've left him far behind[00:02:05]
But I played with him like a fish on a line[00:02:08]
And I stayed about a half a mile behind that sucker[00:02:11]
Then I pushed her up to forty-five[00:02:16]
And he sees me comin' and he starts to fly[00:02:19]
So I kicked her to sixty and shift to high[00:02:22]
And finally catch that jogger[00:02:24]
And it wasn't easy[00:02:26]
Now I'm doin' eighty and I turned to check[00:02:28]
And he's stayin' right with me neck in neck[00:02:31]
His hearts a thumpin' like an engine[00:02:34]
Goin' poo poon pucker prooon[00:02:36]
Then he yelled out I hope you're set[00:02:40]
Cause I ain't shifted into second yet[00:02:41]
Then he unwinds and leaves me behind[00:02:44]
Eaten the dust of a jogger[00:02:47]
Then I see him a joggin' up into the sky[00:02:51]
And he yells hey thanks for the exercise[00:02:54]
And I hope that losin' the race[00:02:57]
Was not too shockin'[00:02:59]
Ya see my dad says heaven's no place to run[00:03:02]
I try to be an obedient son[00:03:05]
So I got to come down to earth to do my joggin'[00:03:08]
Well that's the story take it or leave it[00:03:13]
My trucker buddies they believe it[00:03:16]
So do those race car nuts and Harley hoggers[00:03:19]
And I'm still drivin' much the same[00:03:24]
Cept I don't call nobody names[00:03:27]
And I tip my hat each time I pass[00:03:30]
One of them good old joggers[00:03:33]
Hey there's one now hey everybody hangin' in there[00:03:36]
