Talkin' World War III Blues - Bob Dylan[00:00:00]
Written by:B. Dylan[00:00:02]
One time ago a crazy dream came to me[00:00:20]
I dreamt I was walkin' into World War Three[00:00:22]
Went to the doctor the very next day[00:00:26]
To see what kinda words he could say[00:00:28]
He said it was a bad dream[00:00:30]
I wouldn't worry 'bout it none though[00:00:34]
They were my own dreams[00:00:36]
Were only in your head[00:00:37]
I said hold it Doc a World War passed through my brain[00:00:49]
He said nurse get your pad the boy's insane[00:00:52]
He grabbed my arm I said ouch[00:00:58]
As I landed on the psychiatric couch[00:01:00]
He said tell me about it[00:01:02]
Well the whole thing started at three o'clock fast[00:01:13]
It was all over by quarter past[00:01:15]
I was down in the sewer with some little lover[00:01:19]
When I peeked out from a manhole cover[00:01:21]
Wondering who turned the lights on us[00:01:25]
Well I got up and I walked around[00:01:37]
Up and down the lonesome town[00:01:39]
I stood on wondering which way to go[00:01:45]
I lit a cigarette on a parking meter[00:01:47]
And walked on down the road it was a normal day[00:01:49]
Well I rung me fallout shelter bell[00:02:05]
And I leaned my head and I gave a yell[00:02:07]
Give me a string bean I'm a hungry man[00:02:10]
Shotgun fired and away I ran[00:02:13]
I don't blame them too much though they didn't know me[00:02:17]
Down the corner by the hot dog stand[00:02:30]
I seen a man I said howdy friend[00:02:32]
I guess there's just us two[00:02:36]
He screamed a bit and away he flew[00:02:38]
Thought I was a Communist[00:02:41]
Well I spied me a girl before she could leave[00:03:03]
I said Let's go play Adam and Eve[00:03:05]
I took her by the hand and my heart was thumpin'[00:03:09]
When she said hey man you crazy or something[00:03:11]
You seen what happened last time they started[00:03:17]
Well I seen me a Cadillac window uptown[00:03:37]
There was nobody around[00:03:40]
I got into the driver's seat[00:03:42]
And I drove down 42nd street in my Cadillac[00:03:44]
Good car to drive after a war[00:03:50]
Well I remember seein' some ad[00:04:08]
So I turned on my Conelrad but I didn't pay the Con Ed bill[00:04:10]
So the radio didn't work so well turned on my record player[00:04:14]
It was Rock A Day Johnny singin' tell your ma tell your pa[00:04:22]
Our loves are gonna grow ooh wah ooh wah[00:04:27]
I was feelin' kinda lonesome and blue[00:04:44]
I needed somebody to talk to[00:04:46]
So I called up the operator of time[00:04:49]
Just to hear a voice of some kind[00:04:51]
When you hear the beep it will be three o'clock[00:04:57]
She said that for over an hour and I hung up[00:05:01]
Well the doctor interrupted me just about then[00:05:16]
Sayin' hey I've been havin' the same old dreams[00:05:19]
But mine was a little different you see[00:05:23]
I dreamt the only person left after the war was me[00:05:26]
I didn't see you around[00:05:30]
Well now time passed and now it seems[00:05:40]
Everybody's having them dreams[00:05:43]
Everybody sees their self walkin' around with no one else[00:05:47]
Half the people can be part right all of the time and[00:05:54]
Some of the people can be all right part of the time but[00:06:00]
All the people can't be all alright all of the time[00:06:03]
I think Abraham Lincoln said that[00:06:08]
I'll let you be in my dreams if I can be in yours[00:06:12]
I said that[00:06:15]
