Johnny Jump Up/Morrison's Jig - Gaelic Storm[00:00:01]
I'll tell you a story that happened to me[00:00:07]
One day as I went out to Youghal by the Sea[00:00:10]
The sun it was bright and the day it was warm[00:00:13]
Says I A quiet pint wouldn't do me no harm[00:00:17]
I went to the barman I says give me a stout[00:00:20]
Says the barman I'm sorry all the beer tis sold out[00:00:23]
Try whiskey or vodka ten years in the wood[00:00:27]
Says I I'll try cider I heard it was good[00:00:30]
Oh never oh never oh never again[00:00:34]
If I live to a hundred or a hundred and ten[00:00:37]
I fell to the ground and I couldn't get up[00:00:40]
After drinking a pint of the Johnny Jump Up[00:00:43]
After lowering the third I headed strait for the yard[00:00:50]
Where I bumped into Brophy the big civic guard[00:00:54]
Come here to me boy[00:00:57]
Don't you know we're in the law[00:00:59]
Well I upped with my fist and I shot to his jaw[00:01:01]
He fell to the ground with his knees crumpled up[00:01:04]
But it T'wasn't I hit him t'was the johnny jump[00:01:07]
And the next thing I met down in Youghal by the Sea[00:01:11]
Was a cripple on crutches and says he to me[00:01:14]
I'm afraid o' me life I'll be hit by a car[00:01:18]
Would you help me across to the Railwayman's Bar[00:01:21]
And after three pints of the cider so sweet[00:01:24]
He threw down his crutches and he danced on his feet[00:01:28]
Oh never oh never oh never again[00:01:32]
If I live to a hundred or a hundred and ten[00:01:35]
I fell to the ground and I couldn't get up[00:01:38]
After drinking a pint of the Johnny Jump Up[00:01:42]
Now I went up the Lee road a friend to see[00:02:13]
They call it the Madhouse in Cork by the Lee[00:02:16]
But when I got up there the truth I do to tell[00:02:20]
They had the poor bugger locked up in his cell[00:02:23]
Says the guard testing him say these words if you can[00:02:27]
Around the rugged rocks the ragged rascal ran'[00:02:30]
Tell them I'm not crazy tell them I'm not mad[00:02:34]
T'was only six pints of that cider I had[00:02:37]
Now a man died in the Union by the name of McNabb[00:02:44]
They washed him and laid him outside on a slab[00:02:47]
And after the corroner his measurements did take[00:02:51]
His wife took him home to a bloody fine wake[00:02:55]
Twas about twelve o'clock and the beer it was high[00:02:58]
The corpse he sat up and he says with a sigh[00:03:01]
I can't get to heaven they won't let me up[00:03:05]
Till I bring them a pint of the Johnny Jump Up[00:03:08]
Oh never oh never oh never again[00:03:12]
If I live to a hundred or a hundred and ten[00:03:15]
I fell to the ground and I couldn't get up[00:03:19]
After drinking a pint of the Johnny Jump Up[00:03:22]
Oh never oh never oh never again[00:03:26]
If I live to a hundred or a hundred and ten[00:03:29]
I fell to the ground and I couldn't get up[00:03:33]
After drinking a pint of the Johnny Jump Up[00:03:36]
