Uneasy Rider (Live) - Br5-49[00:00:00]
Written by:Charlie Daniels[00:00:01]
I was takin' a trip out to LA[00:00:23]
Toolin' along in my cheverolet[00:00:25]
Tokin' on a number and diggin' on the radio[00:00:27]
Just as I crossed the Mississippi line[00:00:30]
I heard that highway start to whine[00:00:32]
And I knew that left rear tire was about to blow[00:00:34]
Well the spare was flat and I got uptight[00:00:37]
Cause there wasn't a filling station in sight[00:00:38]
So I just limped on down the shoulder on the rim[00:00:40]
I went as far as I could and when I stopped the car[00:00:44]
It was right in front of this little bar[00:00:45]
Kind of a red neck lookin' joint called the dew drop inn[00:00:47]
I stuffed my hair up under my hat[00:00:57]
And told the bartender that I had a flat[00:00:58]
And would he be kind enough to give me change for a one[00:01:00]
There was one thing I was sure proud to see[00:01:03]
There wasn't a soul in the place except for him and me[00:01:05]
He just looked disgusted and pointed toward the telephone[00:01:07]
I called up the station down the road away[00:01:10]
He said he wasn't very busy today[00:01:12]
And he could have someone about 10 minutes or so[00:01:13]
He said now you just stay right where your at[00:01:17]
But I didn't bother to tell the darn fool[00:01:19]
I sure as hell didn't have anyplace else to go[00:01:20]
I just ordered up a beer and sat down at the bar[00:01:24]
When some guy walked in and said[00:01:26]
Who owns this car with the peace sign[00:01:26]
The mag wheels and the four on the floor[00:01:28]
He looked at me and I damn near died[00:01:31]
And I decided that I'd just wait outside[00:01:32]
So I laid a dollar on the bar and headed for the door[00:01:34]
Just when I thought I'd get outta there with my skin[00:01:44]
These 5 big dudes come strolling in[00:01:45]
With one old drunk chick and some fella with green teeth[00:01:47]
I was almost to the door when the biggest one[00:01:50]
Said you tip your hat to this lady son[00:01:52]
And when I did all that hair fell out from underneath[00:01:53]
Now the last thing I wanted was to get a fight[00:01:57]
In Jackson Mississippi on a Saturday night[00:01:59]
Especially when there was three of them and only one of me[00:02:00]
They all started laughing and I felt kinda sick[00:02:04]
And I knew I better think of something pretty quick[00:02:05]
I just reached out and kicked old green teeth right in the knee[00:02:07]
He let out a yell that'd curl your hair[00:02:10]
But before he moved I grabbed me a chair and said[00:02:12]
Watch him folks 'cause he's a thoroughly dangerous man[00:02:14]
I said you may not know it but this man is a spy[00:02:17]
He's a undercover agent for the FBI[00:02:19]
He's been sent down here to infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan[00:02:20]
He was still bent over holding on to his knee[00:02:24]
But everybody else was looking and listening to me[00:02:26]
And I laid it on thicker and heavier as I went[00:02:27]
I said would you believe this man has gone as far[00:02:30]
As tearing Wallace stickers off the bumpers of cars[00:02:32]
And he voted for George McGovern for president[00:02:34]
He's a friend of them long haired hippy type pinko fags[00:02:37]
I betchya he's even got a commie flag[00:02:39]
Tacked up on the wall inside of his garage[00:02:41]
He's a snake in the grass I tell ya guys[00:02:44]
He may look dumb but that's just a disguise[00:02:46]
He's a mastermind in the ways of espionage[00:02:48]
They all started looking real suspicious at him[00:02:57]
He jumped up and said now just wait a minute Jim[00:02:59]
You know he's lying I been living here all of my life[00:03:01]
I'm a faithful follower of brother John Birch[00:03:03]
And I belong to the Antioch baptist church[00:03:05]
And I ain't even got a garage[00:03:07]
You can call home and ask my wife[00:03:09]
Then he started saying somethin' 'bout the way I was dressed[00:03:10]
But I didn't wait around to hear the rest[00:03:12]
I was too busy moving and hoping I didn't run outta luck[00:03:14]
When I hit the ground I was making tracks[00:03:17]
And they were just taking my car down off the jacks[00:03:19]
So I threw the man a twenty[00:03:20]
And jumped in and fired that mother up[00:03:21]
Mario Andretti would sure been proud[00:03:24]
Of the way I was moving when I passed that crowd[00:03:25]
Coming out the door and headed toward me at a trot[00:03:27]
And I guess I should gone ahead and run[00:03:30]
But somehow I just couldn't resist the fun[00:03:32]
Of chasing them all just once around the parking lot[00:03:34]
Well they headed for their car but I hit the gas[00:03:43]
And spun around and headed them off at the pass[00:03:45]
I was slinging gravel and putting a ton of dust in the air[00:03:47]
I had them all out there stepping and fetching[00:03:50]
Like their heads was on fire and their asses was catching[00:03:52]
Outside I go ahead[00:03:53]
And split before the cops got there[00:03:54]
When I hit the road I was really wheeling[00:03:57]
Had gravel flying and rubber squeeling[00:03:59]
And I didn't slow down till I was almost to Arkansas[00:04:00]
I think I'm gonna reroute my trip[00:04:03]
I wonder if anybody'd think I'd flipped[00:04:05]
I went to LA via Omaha[00:04:07]
