Me & My Uncle [Live at Fillmore East, New York, NY, April 29, 1971[00:00:01]
Me and my uncle went riding down[00:00:13]
South Colorado West Texas bound [00:00:18]
We stopped over in Santa Fe[00:00:22]
That being the point just about half way[00:00:26]
And you know it was the hottest part of the day [00:00:31]
I took the horses up to the stall[00:00:37]
Went to the barroom ordered drinks for all [00:00:41]
Three days in the saddle you know my body hurt[00:00:46]
It being summer I took off my shirt[00:00:50]
And I tried to wash off some of that dusty dirt [00:00:54]
West Texas cowboys well they was all around[00:01:01]
With liquor and money they loaded down [00:01:05]
So soon after payday know it seemed a shame[00:01:09]
You know my uncle he starts a friendly game[00:01:14]
High low jack and the winner take the hand [00:01:18]
My uncle starts winning[00:01:48]
Cowboys got sore [00:01:50]
One of them called him[00:01:52]
And then two more[00:01:54]
Accused him of cheating[00:01:57]
Oh no it couldn't be [00:01:58]
I know my uncle he's as honest as me[00:02:01]
And I'm as honest as a gambling man can be[00:02:05]
That's me[00:02:09]
One of them cowboys he starts to draw[00:02:12]
And I shot him down lord he never saw [00:02:16]
Shot me another oh damn he won't grow old [00:02:20]
In the confusion my uncle grabbed the gold[00:02:25]
And we high tailed it down to Mexico [00:02:30]
I love those cowboys I love their gold[00:02:35]
I loved my uncle God rest his soul[00:02:40]
Taught me good lord taught me all I know[00:02:44]
Taught me so well well I grabbed that gold[00:02:49]
And I left his dead ass[00:02:53]
There by the side of the road[00:02:54]
Hey[00:02:57]
