The Glass On The Bar (Remaster) - Lee Kernaghan[00:00:00]
Written by:Henry Lawson/Lee Kernaghan[00:00:01]
Three bushman one morning rode up to an Inn[00:00:11]
And one of them called for drinks with a grin[00:00:16]
They'd only returned from a trip to the north[00:00:22]
And eager to greet them the landlord came forth[00:00:27]
He absently poured out a glass of three star[00:00:34]
And set down the drink with the rest on the bar[00:00:39]
There that is for Harry he said and it's queer[00:00:46]
Tis' the very same glass he drank from last year[00:00:52]
His name's on the glass you can read it like print[00:00:57]
He scratched it himself with an old piece of flint[00:01:02]
I remember his drink it was always three star[00:01:09]
He set down the drink with the rest on the bar[00:01:15]
He looked at the horses and counted but three[00:01:25]
You were always together where's Harry cried he[00:01:30]
Oh sadly they looked at the glass as they said[00:01:36]
You may put it away for our old mate is dead[00:01:41]
But one glazing out over the ridges afar[00:01:49]
Said we owe him a drink leave the glass on the bar[00:01:54]
They thought of the far away grave on the plain[00:02:09]
They thought of the comrade who'd not come again[00:02:15]
They lifted their glasses and sadly they said[00:02:20]
We drink to the name of our old mate who's dead[00:02:26]
And the sunlight streamed in and a light like a star[00:02:33]
Seemed to glow in the depth of the glass on the bar[00:02:38]
And still in that shanty a tumbler is seen[00:02:46]
It stands by the clock ever polished and clean[00:02:51]
And often the strangers will read as they pass[00:02:57]
The name of the bushman engraved on the glass[00:03:02]
And though on that shelf though a dozen there are[00:03:10]
That glass never stands with the rest on the bar[00:03:15]
