sunday morning, birmingham, quiet in the church[00:00:17]
bombs were planted, house of god, children's blood on the cross[00:00:24]
and your daughter, she was one, angel without wings[00:00:31]
how could anyone forgive those who do such things[00:00:39]
and when i sing amazing grace, your face is what i see[00:00:46]
i hope someday that kind of grace will find its way through me[00:01:01]
tuesday afternoon...jonesboro, fire alarm at school[00:01:29]
everyone goes rushing out into bloody pools[00:01:36]
thirteen and eleven years old, playing grown-up games[00:01:44]
mimicking what they’d been taught, now we’ll never be the same[00:01:51]
every year they’re younger now, drugs and knives and guns[00:01:59]
barely old enough to know the depth of what they’ve done[00:02:06]
taken off to juvenile hall, sheriff shakes his head[00:02:13]
a teacher tried to block the shots, gave her life instead[00:02:22]
when i sing amazing grace her face is what i see[00:02:29]
i hope some day that kind of grace will find it’s way through me[00:02:44]
wednesday evening, wyoming, started in a bar[00:03:16]
ended on a wooden fence, dragged off in a car[00:03:23]
second friday funeral, countless gathered round[00:03:31]
some were there to mourn the loss, others there to confound[00:03:38]
some were there to cry the tears born of grief and rage[00:03:46]
others carried signs that said "a cure for fags is aids"[00:03:54]
matthew shepard lost his life, his parents lost their son[00:04:05]
now he brings a cause to light, reluctant martyrdom[00:04:13]
when i sing amazing grace his face is what i see[00:04:21]
i hope some day some kind of grace will find it’s way through me[00:04:35]
"amazing grace, how sweet the sound[00:04:54]
that saved a wretch like me[00:05:01]
i once was lost, but now i'm found[00:05:09]
was blind, but now i see"[00:05:17]
