Race You to the Top of the Morning - Mandy Patinkin (曼迪·帕汀金)[00:00:00]
Written by:L. Simon/M. Norman/Lucy Simon[00:00:03]
Producer:Thomas Z. Shepard[00:00:04]
When we left off last night[00:00:06]
The hideous dragon[00:00:07]
Had carried the maid to his cave by moonlight[00:00:08]
He gnashed his teeth and breathed his fire[00:00:10]
The heath quaked and we trembled in fear[00:00:12]
I said someone must save this sweet raven-haired maiden[00:00:15]
Though surely the cost will be steep[00:00:20]
So we lads all drew lots[00:00:23]
Our insides tied in knots[00:00:26]
And I won and the rest went to sleep[00:00:28]
So I picked up my staff[00:00:32]
And I followed the trail Of his smoke[00:00:34]
To the mouth of the cave[00:00:37]
And I bid him come out[00:00:40]
Yea forsooth I did shout[00:00:42]
Ye fool dragon be gone or behave[00:00:44]
And then under my breath[00:00:51]
I uttered a charm said[00:00:53]
To make the worst fiends become kind[00:00:55]
Knaves and knights of dire plights[00:00:58]
Now diminish his sights[00:01:01]
And it worked and the dragon went blind[00:01:03]
And he charged off the cliff[00:01:06]
Howling mad and he died[00:01:08]
And the maiden accepted my ring[00:01:10]
And then you came along[00:01:14]
And were brave bold and strong[00:01:16]
And in thanks every night now I sing[00:01:18]
Race you to the top of the morning[00:01:22]
Come sit on my shoulders and ride[00:01:26]
Run and hide I'll come and find you[00:01:30]
Climb hills to remind you[00:01:34]
I love you my boy at my side[00:01:38]
Now another foul dragon's appeared[00:01:44]
I must leave you[00:01:47]
He's scorching our land with his breath[00:01:49]
From his lair this one taunts me[00:01:52]
He dares me he haunts me[00:01:54]
Once again we must fight to the death[00:01:56]
Would to God I could stay and instead slay your dragon[00:01:59]
This beast who sits hunched on your back[00:02:03]
Would God I could wrench him away from your bed[00:02:07]
Or cut off or tear off his terrible head[00:02:10]
Could breathe out my fire on him[00:02:14]
'Till he was dead[00:02:16]
Or beg him to spare you and take me instead[00:02:17]
As it is I must leave you in care of my brother[00:02:34]
The wizard who lives on the hill[00:02:40]
Who has promised his art[00:02:43]
Will soon pierce through the heart[00:02:46]
Of this dragon that's keeping you ill[00:02:48]
And I know that your mother God bless her[00:02:52]
Would want you to do as he says and grow strong[00:02:56]
And you know that as soon as I can I'll return[00:03:01]
So be brave son and know that I long[00:03:05]
To race you to the top of the morning[00:03:09]
Come sit on my shoulders and ride[00:03:14]
Run and hide I'll come and find you[00:03:18]
Climb hills to remind you[00:03:23]
I love you[00:03:28]
I love you my boy at my side[00:03:32]
