Rudy - The Be Good Tanyas[00:00:00]
Written by:Sam Parton/Brodie Smith[00:00:00]
Rudy lives on the borderline[00:00:04]
Between civilization and basic survival[00:00:08]
And the summertime treats him fairly well[00:00:12]
But the wintertime is a dirty cold rival[00:00:15]
It's wintertime now in Georgetown[00:00:20]
The streets come alive with the Christmas light[00:00:24]
And Rudy sleeps on a warm air grate[00:00:27]
With a newspaper blanket on December nights[00:00:31]
Deck the halls[00:00:38]
Rudolph the red nosed wino[00:00:40]
Knows it's Christmas time[00:00:42]
Jingle Bells and Christmas shoppers[00:00:45]
Dashing through the snow[00:00:49]
God rest ye merry gentlemen[00:00:53]
Who've found it in your hearts[00:00:56]
To flip Rudy a thin[00:00:58]
And I'll be home for Christmas[00:01:00]
But this man has[00:01:03]
No place to go[00:01:05]
Christmas has a meaning at all[00:01:11]
The people of greed and incredible waste[00:01:14]
They seek the deeper meaning[00:01:18]
In the shopping mall[00:01:20]
In a yuletide spirit[00:01:22]
Of impatience and hate[00:01:24]
Rudy is a patient man[00:01:26]
Who tries to see the beauty in everything[00:01:29]
Yes and not a very demanding soul[00:01:33]
Whose only wish is[00:01:37]
To live until the Spring[00:01:39]
Nobody knows the reasons why[00:01:46]
Things turn out[00:01:49]
Like the way they do[00:01:51]
And there ain't no one to tell you[00:01:53]
The reasons why[00:01:55]
There's fortunate folks[00:01:57]
Like me and you[00:01:58]
Rudy must have people somewhere[00:02:01]
Who wonder what[00:02:04]
Became of the man[00:02:06]
And Rudy must wonder[00:02:08]
The same d*mn thing[00:02:10]
As the crowd passes by[00:02:12]
And he sticks out his hand[00:02:14]
Deck the halls[00:02:21]
Rudolph the red nosed wino[00:02:22]
Knows it's Christmas time[00:02:25]
Jingle Bells in the Christmas Shop[00:02:28]
Others dashing through the snow[00:02:31]
God rest ye merry gentlemen[00:02:36]
Who have found it in your hearts[00:02:38]
To flip Rudy a thin[00:02:41]
And I'll be home for Christmas[00:02:43]
But this man has[00:02:46]
No place to go[00:02:47]
Rudy died on the borderline[00:02:53]
Of a civilized world[00:02:56]
On Christmas Eve[00:02:58]
You know the shoppers shopped[00:03:00]
And the temperatures dropped[00:03:02]
On a man whose absence[00:03:04]
Won't be grieved[00:03:06]
Peace on the soul of the cop[00:03:08]
Who found in a booth[00:03:11]
With his hand frozen to a telephone[00:03:12]
You know I think I know[00:03:15]
Who he had on the line[00:03:17]
And Rudy won't spend[00:03:19]
This Christmas alone[00:03:21]
Deck the halls[00:03:28]
Rudolph the red nosed wino[00:03:29]
Knows it's Christmas time[00:03:32]
Jingle Bells in the Christmas Shop[00:03:35]
Others dashing through the snow[00:03:38]
God rest ye merry gentlemen[00:03:42]
Who have found it in your hearts[00:03:45]
To flip Rudy a thin[00:03:48]
And I'll be home for Christmas[00:03:50]
And this year[00:03:53]
Rudy gets to go[00:03:54]
Yeah I'll be home for Christmas[00:03:57]
And this year Rudy gets to go[00:04:01]
