Johnny McEldoo - The Clancy Brothers/Tommy Makem[00:00:00]
There was Johnny McEldoo and McGee and me[00:00:00]
And a couple or two or three[00:00:05]
Went on a spree one day[00:00:06]
We had a bob or two which[00:00:08]
We knew how to blew[00:00:09]
And the beer and whiskey flew[00:00:10]
And we all felt gay[00:00:11]
We visited McCann's McLemann's[00:00:13]
Humpty Dan's[00:00:15]
We then went into Swann's[00:00:16]
Our stomachs for to pack[00:00:17]
We ordered out a feed[00:00:18]
Which indeed we did need[00:00:19]
And we finished it with speed[00:00:20]
But we still felt slack[00:00:22]
Johnny McEldoo turned red[00:00:23]
White and blue[00:00:25]
And a plate of Irish stew[00:00:25]
He soon put out of sight[00:00:27]
He shouted out Encore[00:00:28]
With a roar for some more[00:00:29]
That he never felt before such a keen appetite[00:00:30]
He ordered eggs and ham bread[00:00:33]
And jam what a cram[00:00:34]
But him we couldn't ram though[00:00:35]
We tried our level best[00:00:37]
For everything we brought cold[00:00:38]
Or hot mattered not[00:00:39]
It went down him like a shot and[00:00:40]
He still stood the test[00:00:42]
He swallowed tripe and lard by the yard[00:00:43]
We got scared[00:00:44]
We thought it would go hard[00:00:45]
When the waiter brought the bill[00:00:46]
We told him to give other[00:00:47]
But he swore he could loser[00:00:48]
Twice as much again and[00:00:50]
More before he had his fill[00:00:51]
He nearly sucked a trough full of broth[00:00:52]
Says McGrath[00:00:53]
He'll devour the table cloth[00:00:54]
If you don't hold him in[00:00:55]
When the waiter brought the charge[00:00:57]
McEldoo felt so large[00:00:58]
He began to scowl and barge and[00:00:59]
His blood went on fire[00:01:00]
He began to curse and swear tear[00:01:01]
His hair in despair[00:01:03]
And to finish the affair[00:01:03]
Called the shopman a liar[00:01:04]
The shopman he drew out and[00:01:06]
No doubt he did clout[00:01:07]
McEldoo he kicked about[00:01:08]
Like an old football[00:01:08]
He tattered all his clothes broke[00:01:10]
His nose I suppose[00:01:11]
He'd have killed him with a few blows[00:01:12]
In no time at all[00:01:13]
McEldoo began to howl[00:01:14]
And to growl by my soul[00:01:15]
He threw an empty bowl[00:01:16]
At the shopkeeper's head[00:01:17]
It struck by Mickey Finn peeled[00:01:18]
The skin off his chin[00:01:19]
And the ructions did begin[00:01:20]
And we all fought and bled[00:01:21]
The Peelers did arrive man alive four or five[00:01:22]
At us the made a drive us all to march away[00:01:23]
We paid for all the meat[00:01:25]
That we ate stood a treat[00:01:26]
And went home to ruminate on the spree that day[00:01:28]
