Uneasy Rider(Album Version) - The Charlie Daniels Band[00:00:00]
I was takin' a trip out to LA[00:00:11]
Toolin' along in my Chevrolet[00:00:14]
Tokin' on a number and diggin' on the radio[00:00:16]
Just as I crossed the Mississippi line[00:00:21]
I heard that highway start to whine[00:00:23]
And I knew that left rear tire was about to blow[00:00:26]
Well the spare was flat and I got uptight[00:00:31]
'Cause there wasn't a filling station in sight[00:00:33]
So I just limped on down the shoulder on the rim[00:00:36]
I went as far as I could and when I stopped the car[00:00:41]
It was right in front of this little bar[00:00:43]
Kind of a red-neck lookin' joint called the Dew Drop Inn[00:00:46]
Well I stuffed my hair up under my hat[00:00:51]
And told the bartender that I had a flat[00:00:53]
And would he be kind enough to give me change for a one[00:00:56]
Well there was one thing I was sure proud to see[00:01:01]
There wasn't a soul in the place except for him and me[00:01:03]
He just looked disgusted and pointed toward the telephone[00:01:05]
I called up the station down the road a ways[00:01:11]
He said he wasn't very busy today[00:01:13]
And he could have somebody out there in[00:01:15]
Just about 10 minutes or so[00:01:17]
He said Now you just stay right where you're at[00:01:20]
And I didn't bother to tell the darn fool[00:01:23]
That I sure as hell didn't have anyplace else to go[00:01:26]
I just ordered up a beer and sat down at the bar[00:01:31]
When some guy walked in and said[00:01:33]
Who owns this car[00:01:35]
With the peace sign the mag wheels[00:01:36]
And the four on the floor[00:01:37]
He looked at me and I damn near died[00:01:41]
And I decided that I'd just wait outside[00:01:43]
So I laid a dollar on the bar and headed for the door[00:01:46]
Just when I thought I'd get outta there with my skin[00:01:51]
These 5 big dudes come strollin' in[00:01:54]
With one old drunk chick and some fella with green teeth[00:01:55]
And I was almost to the door when the biggest one[00:02:01]
Said You tip your hat to this lady son[00:02:03]
And when I did all that hair fell out from underneath[00:02:06]
Now the last thing I wanted was to get into a fight[00:02:11]
In Jackson Mississippi on a Saturday night[00:02:13]
Especially when there was three of them[00:02:16]
And only one of me[00:02:18]
They all started laughin' and I felt kinda sick[00:02:21]
And I knew I better think of something pretty quick[00:02:23]
So I just reached out[00:02:26]
And kicked old green teeth right in the knee[00:02:27]
Now he let out a yell that'd curl you're hair[00:02:31]
But before he could move I grabbed me a chair[00:02:33]
And said Now watch him Folks[00:02:36]
'Cause he's a thoroughly dangerous man[00:02:37]
You may not know it but this man is a spy[00:02:41]
He's a undercover agent for the FBI[00:02:44]
He's been sent down here to infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan[00:02:46]
He was still bent over holdin' on to his knee[00:02:51]
But everybody else was looking and listening to me[00:02:54]
And I laid it on thicker and heavier as I went[00:02:56]
I said Would you believe this man has gone as far[00:03:01]
As tearing Wallace stickers off the bumpers of cars[00:03:04]
And he voted for George McGovern for President[00:03:06]
Well he's a friend of them long haired[00:03:11]
Hippy-type pinko fags[00:03:12]
I betcha he's even got a commie flag[00:03:14]
Tacked up on the wall inside of his garage[00:03:16]
He's a snake in the grass I tell ya guys[00:03:21]
He may look dumb but that's just a disguise[00:03:24]
He's a mastermind in the ways of espionage[00:03:26]
They all started lookin' real suspicious at him[00:03:31]
And he jumped up and said Now just wait a minute Jim[00:03:34]
You know he's lying I been living here all of my life[00:03:37]
I'm a faithful follower of Brother John Birch[00:03:41]
And I belong to the Antioch Baptist Church[00:03:44]
And I ain't even got a garage[00:03:46]
You can call home and ask my wife[00:03:48]
Then he started saying somethin' 'bout the way I was dressed[00:03:51]
But I didn't wait around to hear the rest[00:03:54]
I was too busy moving and hoping I didn't run outta luck[00:03:56]
When I hit the ground I was making tracks[00:04:02]
And they were just taking my car down off the jacks[00:04:04]
So I threw the man a twenty and jumped in[00:04:07]
And fired that mother up[00:04:08]
Mario Andretti would've sure been proud[00:04:12]
Of the way I was movin' when I passed that crowd[00:04:14]
Coming out the door and headed toward me at a trot[00:04:17]
And I guess I should of gone ahead and run[00:04:22]
But somehow I just couldn't resist the fun[00:04:24]
Of chasing them all just once around the parking lot[00:04:27]
Well they headed for their car but I hit the gas[00:04:32]
And spun around and headed them off at the pass[00:04:34]
I was slinging gravel and putting a ton of dust in the air[00:04:37]
I had them all out there steppin' and fetchin'[00:04:42]
Like their heads was on fire and their asses was catchin'[00:04:44]
Then I figured I had better go ahead[00:04:47]
And split before the cops got there[00:04:49]
When I hit the road I was really wheelin'[00:04:52]
Had gravel flyin' and rubber squeelin'[00:04:54]
And I didn't slow down till I was almost to Arkansas[00:04:57]
Well I think I'm gonna reroute my trip[00:05:02]
I wonder if anybody'd think I'd flipped[00:05:04]
If I went to LA via Omaha[00:05:07]
