Uneasy Rider - The Charlie Daniels Band[00:00:00]
I was takin' a trip out to L A [00:00:11]
Toolin' along in my Chevrolet[00:00:13]
O [00:00:16]
O [00:00:17]
Just as I crossed the Mississippi line[00:00:21]
I heard that highway start to whine[00:00:23]
Go [00:00:26]
Go [00:00:26]
Well the spare was flat and I got uptight[00:00:28]
'Cause there wasn't a fillin' station in sight[00:00:33]
So I just limped on down the shoulder on the rim[00:00:36]
I went as far as I could and when I stopped the car[00:00:40]
It was right in front of this little bar[00:00:43]
Kind of redneck lookin' joint called the Dew Drop Inn [00:00:45]
Well I stuffed my hair up under my hat[00:00:50]
And told the bartender that I had a flat[00:00:52]
And would he be kind enough to give me change for a one[00:00:54]
There was one thing I was sure proud to see[00:00:56]
There wasn't a soul in the place 'cept for him and me[00:01:00]
And he just looked disgusted and pointed toward the telephone [00:01:03]
I called up the station down the road a ways[00:01:10]
And he said he wasn't very busy today[00:01:13]
And he could have somebody there in just 'bout ten minutes or so[00:01:15]
He said now you just stay right where you're at[00:01:19]
And I didn't bother tellin' the durn fool[00:01:22]
I sure as hell didn't have anyplace else to go [00:01:25]
I just ordered up a beer and sat down at the bar[00:01:30]
When some guy walked in and said; "Who owns this car [00:01:32]
With the peace sign the mag wheels and four on the floor "[00:01:35]
Well he looked at me and I damn near died[00:01:40]
And I decided that I'd just wait outside[00:01:42]
So I layed a dollar on the bar and headed for the door [00:01:44]
Just when I thought I'd get outta there with my skin[00:01:50]
These five big dudes come strollin' in[00:01:52]
With this one old drunk chick and some fella with green teeth[00:01:55]
And I was almost to the door when the biggest one[00:02:00]
Said; "You tip your hat to this lady son "[00:02:02]
And when I did all that hair fell out from underneath [00:02:04]
Now the last thing I wanted was to get into a fight[00:02:10]
In Jackson Mississippi on a Saturday night[00:02:13]
'Specially when there was three of them and only one of me[00:02:14]
They all started laughin' and I felt kinda sick[00:02:17]
And I knew I'd better think of somethin' pretty quick[00:02:22]
So I just reached out and kicked old green-teeth right in the knee [00:02:24]
He let out a yell that'd curl your hair[00:02:28]
But before he could move I grabbed me a chair[00:02:32]
And said; "Watch him folks 'cause he's a thouroughly dangerous man "[00:02:35]
"Well you may not know it but this man's a spy[00:02:40]
He's an undercover agent for the FBI[00:02:43]
And he's been sent down here to infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan "[00:02:45]
He was still bent over holdin' on to his knee[00:02:50]
But everyone else was lookin' and listenin' to me[00:02:52]
And I layed it on thicker and heavier as I went[00:02:55]
I said; "Would you beleive this man has gone as far[00:03:00]
As tearin' Wallace stickers off the bumpers of cars[00:03:02]
And he voted for George McGovern for president "[00:03:05]
"He's a friend of them long-haired hippie type pinko fags[00:03:07]
I betcha he's even got a Commie flag[00:03:11]
Tacked up on the wall inside of his garage[00:03:15]
He's a snake in the grass I tell ya guys[00:03:19]
He may look dumb but that's just a disguise[00:03:23]
He's a mastermind in the ways of espionage "[00:03:25]
They all started lookin' real suspicious at him[00:03:30]
And he jumped up an' said; "Now just wait a minute Jim[00:03:33]
You know he's lyin' I've been livin' here all of my life "[00:03:36]
"I'm a faithfull follower of Brother John Birch[00:03:40]
And I belong to the Antioch Baptist Church[00:03:42]
And I ain't even got a garage you can call home and ask my wife "[00:03:45]
Then he started sayin' somethin' 'bout the way I was dressed[00:03:50]
But I didn't wait around to hear the rest[00:03:53]
I was too busy movin' and hopin' I didn't run outta luck[00:03:55]
And when I hit the ground I was makin' tracks[00:03:57]
And they were just takin' my car down off the jacks[00:04:02]
So I threw the man a twenty an' jumped in an' fired that mother up [00:04:08]
Mario Andretti woulda sure been proud[00:04:16]
Of the way I was movin' when I passed that crowd[00:04:18]
Comin' out the door and headin' toward me in a trot[00:04:27]
And I guess I should-a gone ahead and run[00:04:30]
But somehow I couldn't resist the fun[00:04:32]
Of chasin' them all just once around the parkin' lot [00:04:34]
Well they're headin' for their car but I hit the gas[00:04:36]
And spun around and headed them off at the pass[00:04:38]
I was slingin' gravel and puttin' a ton of dust in the air[00:04:41]
Ha Ha well I had 'em all out there steppin' and fetchin'[00:04:43]
Like their heads were on fire and their asses was catchin'[00:04:46]
But I figured I oughta go ahead an split before the cops got there [00:04:48]
When I hit the road I was really wheelin'[00:04:51]
Had gravel flyin' and rubber squeelin'[00:04:53]
And I didn't slow down 'til I was almost to Arkansas[00:04:55]
Well I think I'm gonna re-route my trip[00:04:58]
I wonder if anybody'd think I'd flipped[00:05:03]
If I went to L A - via Omaha [00:05:06]
