Uneasy Rider - Br5-49[00:00:00]
I was takin' a trip out to L A [00:00:24]
Toolin' along in my cheverolet[00:00:26]
Tokin' on a number and diggin' on the radio[00:00:27]
Just as I crossed the Mississippi line[00:00:31]
I heard that highway start to whine[00:00:32]
And I knew that left rear tire was about to blow[00:00:34]
Well the spare was flat and I got uptight[00:00:37]
Cause there wasn't a filling station in sight[00:00:39]
So I just limped on down the shoulder on the rim[00:00:41]
I went as far as I could and when I stopped the car[00:00:44]
It was right in front of this little bar[00:00:46]
Kind of a red-neck lookin' joint called the Dew Drop Inn[00:00:47]
I stuffed my hair up under my hat[00:00:58]
And told the bartender that I had a flat[00:00:59]
And would he be kind enough to give me change for a one[00:01:01]
There was one thing I was sure proud to see[00:01:04]
There wasn't a soul in the place except for him and me[00:01:06]
He just looked disgusted and pointed toward the telephone[00:01:07]
I called up the station down the road away[00:01:11]
He said he wasn't very busy today[00:01:12]
And he could have someone about 10 minutes or so[00:01:14]
He said "Now you just stay right where yer at "[00:01:17]
But I didn't bother to tell the darn fool[00:01:19]
I sure as hell didn't have anyplace else to go[00:01:21]
I just ordered up a beer and sat down at the bar[00:01:24]
When some guy walked in and said [00:01:26]
"Who owns this car with the peace sign [00:01:27]
The mag wheels and the four on the floor "[00:01:29]
He looked at me and I damn near died[00:01:31]
And I decided that I'd just wait outside[00:01:33]
So I laid a dollar on the bar and headed for the door[00:01:34]
Just when I thought I'd get outta there with my skin[00:01:44]
These 5 big dudes come strollin in[00:01:46]
With one old drunk chick and some fella with green teeth[00:01:48]
I was almost to the door when the biggest one[00:01:51]
Said "You tip your hat to this lady son "[00:01:53]
And when I did all that hair fell out from underneath[00:01:54]
Now the last thing I wanted was to get a fight[00:01:57]
In Jackson Mississippi on a Saturday night[00:01:59]
Especially when there was three of them and only one of me[00:02:01]
They all started laughin and I felt kinda sick[00:02:04]
And I knew I better think of something pretty quick[00:02:06]
I just reached out and kicked old green teeth right in the knee[00:02:08]
He let out a yell that'd curl yer hair[00:02:11]
But before he moved I grabbed me a chair and said[00:02:13]
"Watch him Folks 'cause he's a thoroughly dangerous man "[00:02:15]
I said "You may not know it but this man is a spy [00:02:17]
He's a undercover agent for the FBI[00:02:20]
He's been sent down here to infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan "[00:02:21]
He was still bent over holdin on to his knee[00:02:24]
But everybody else was looking and listening to me[00:02:26]
And I laid it on thicker and heavier as I went[00:02:28]
I said "Would you believe this man has gone as far[00:02:31]
As tearing Wallace stickers off the bumpers of cars [00:02:33]
And he voted for George McGovern for President "[00:02:35]
"He's a friend of them long haired hippy-type pinko fags [00:02:38]
I betchya he's even got a commie flag[00:02:40]
Tacked up on the wall inside of his garage "[00:02:42]
"He's a snake in the grass I tell ya guys [00:02:45]
He may look dumb but that's just a disguise [00:02:46]
He's a mastermind in the ways of espionage"[00:02:48]
They all started lookin real suspicious at him[00:02:58]
He jumped up and said "Now just wait a minute Jim [00:02:59]
You know he's lying I been living here all of my life "[00:03:01]
"I'm a faithful follower of Brother John Birch[00:03:04]
And I belong to the Antioch Baptist Church [00:03:06]
And I ain't even got a garage[00:03:08]
You can call home and ask my wife "[00:03:09]
Then he started saying somethin' 'bout the way I was dressed[00:03:11]
But I didn't wait around to hear the rest[00:03:13]
I was too busy moving and hoping I didn't run outta luck[00:03:14]
When I hit the ground I was making tracks[00:03:17]
And they were just taking my car down off the jacks[00:03:19]
So I threw the man a twenty[00:03:21]
And jumped in and fired that mother up[00:03:22]
Mario Andretti wouldda sure been proud[00:03:24]
Of the way I was movin when I passed that crowd[00:03:26]
Coming out the door and headed toward me at a trot[00:03:28]
And I guess I should gone ahead and run[00:03:31]
But somehow I just couldn't resist the fun[00:03:33]
Of chasing them all just once around the parking lot[00:03:34]
Well they headed for their car but I hit the gas[00:03:44]
And spun around and headed them off at the pass[00:03:46]
I was slinging gravel and putting a ton of dust in the air[00:03:48]
I had them all out there steppin and fetchin[00:03:51]
Like their heads was on fire and their asses was catchin[00:03:52]
Then I figgered I had better go ahead[00:03:54]
And split before the cops got there[00:03:55]
When I hit the road I was really wheelin[00:03:57]
Had gravel flyin and rubber squeelin[00:03:59]
And I didn't slow down till I was almost to Arkansas[00:04:01]
I think I'm gonna reroute my trip[00:04:04]
I wonder if anybody'd think I'd flipped[00:04:06]
I went to L A via Omaha[00:04:08]
