He humbly bowed his balding head[00:00:29]

As he turned the key for the last time[00:00:33]

He softly cursed his luck[00:00:35]

They found him three days later[00:00:38]

Frozen stiff in that old truck[00:00:40]

Now jake had been around in life[00:00:43]

And done his share of roamin'[00:00:44]

But when he saw heaven[00:00:46]

He was shocked it look just like wyomin'[00:00:47]

Of all the saints in heaven[00:00:51]

His favorite was st peter[00:00:53]

Now this line it ain't needed[00:00:56]

But it helps with rhyme and meter[00:00:57]

So they set and talked a minute or two[00:00:59]

Or maybe it was three[00:01:01]

Nobody was keepin' score[00:01:02]

In heaven time is free[00:01:04]

I've always heard jake said to pete[00:01:06]

That god will answer prayers[00:01:08]

But one time I asked for help[00:01:11]

Well he just plain wasn't there[00:01:13]

Does god answer prayers of some[00:01:15]

And ignores the prayers of others[00:01:17]

That don't seem exactly square[00:01:19]

I know all men are brothers[00:01:21]

Or does he randomly reply[00:01:23]

Without good rhyme or reason[00:01:25]

Maybe it's the time of day[00:01:27]

The weather or the season[00:01:28]

Now I ain't trying to act smart[00:01:31]

It's just the way I feel[00:01:32]

And I was wonderin' could you tell me[00:01:33]

What the heck's the deal[00:01:36]

Peter listened very patiently[00:01:39]

And when jake was done[00:01:40]

There were smiles of recognition[00:01:42]

And he said so you're the one[00:01:44]

That day your truck it wouldn't start[00:01:47]

And you sent your prayer a flying[00:01:49]

You gave us all a real bad time[00:01:51]

With hundreds of us a trying[00:01:53]

A thousand angels rushed to check[00:01:55]

He didn't recognize your voice[00:02:10]

And started a truck in mile soda[00:02:12]
