A Lesson Perhaps

A Lesson Perhaps - Kaleidoscope[00:00:00]

Written by:Eddie Pumer/Peter James Daltrey[00:00:00]

The early morning castle stirred[00:00:01]

The king of the forest stared vacantly[00:00:06]

Toward the east[00:00:09]

His bloodshot eyes caught no reasoning[00:00:11]

A lazy fly landed on his suit of velvet[00:00:15]

And he cursed the creation[00:00:19]

Like an unwanted shadow[00:00:24]

The queen of conscience entered the already broken morning[00:00:26]

She spoke eat my master[00:00:30]

The king moved to a coffin corner[00:00:34]

Where another lazy fly contemplated the dust of time[00:00:36]

Bring me a kingdom and I will eat[00:00:43]

His voice disturbed the dust and the fly[00:00:45]

I am without power to bring you power[00:00:49]

The queen sighed like an autumn breeze[00:00:52]

Then I will not eat[00:00:57]

The king moved to his guilty throne[00:01:01]

And seated himself among his ancestors[00:01:03]

My king[00:01:07]

If you want a kingdom and power[00:01:08]

If you want money and love if you want respect and admiration[00:01:10]

Then you must go out and take it[00:01:13]

The king stared vacantly to the east[00:01:18]

And a dozen flies waiting in the dust stared back[00:01:20]

I am the king it is not my part to capture and claim[00:01:26]

It is my people's duty[00:01:29]

The queen cried and the little crystal tears tickled her cheeks[00:01:30]

She brushed them away angrily[00:01:38]

You have no people and while you remain the ghost of the past[00:01:40]

You will never have people or a kingdom[00:01:44]

She ran from the pathetic chamber[00:01:46]

A fly left with him[00:01:49]

The king breathed and though deeply[00:01:52]

I will have people he said nervously to his conscience[00:01:56]

I will have people[00:02:00]

The king of the forest never rose again from his guilty throne[00:02:20]

And the dust and the lazy flies lived on him[00:02:26]

And the king lived on his dreams[00:02:31]

And died on them[00:02:35]
